My take: the majority of energy drink consumers are too young to remember Jolt Cola. Also, Redcon’s energy drink flavoring is some of the worst in the space, and I don’t remember Jolt tasting that great in the first place. I predict this thing not being on shelves very long

No one buys cola for $3.
Market is so saturated they had to partner up with Deion Sanders to boost the sales.

Jolt tasted like a Tab cola that had been left over the weekend, opened, in a car.

Yes, I used to buy it a decent amount in the 90's - early 2000's. I wouldn't say it was bad, but on the harsher end of the cola spectrum, definitely on the only "occasional" end of things. And that was with the all dialed in original formula. I can't imaging how much worse it will taste trying to turn it into a premium energy drink.

Who approved this packaging? No one buying a can for nostalgic reasons wants a big "Redcon" on the side. You want the original big Jolt logo. The cola guys are going to pass this, not even seeing the Jolt connection.

Good take. Jolt was the only option as an “energy drink” at the time (not that it was ever marketed as such). There’s so many options today this will need to be something good to set itself apart.
Is this a stand alone beverage that will be sold as a cola energy drink or is it a flavor option in the Redcon lineup?

Yeah, like most cola's not named Coke or Pepsi, it tasted like a flat and stale soda. BANG had a cola flavor called Miami Cola which had the same flat, slightly off cola taste. I had Jolt once or twice and the caffeine wasn't much, supposedly twice that of a normal cola, which is still less than a cup of coffee. I seem to remember it had more sugar too, which also changed the taste.
The redcon version has 200 mgs of caffeine and no sugar. Most typical rockstar or monster energy drinks have about the same amount of caffeine.

Should have been a HUGE Jolt Cola-logo with a tiny Redcon1 somewhere

Add heart attack to that.

We used to get this for sleep overs to play video games back in the early 90’s when I was in elementary school. I read that Les Claypool drank it back then and it had twice the caffeine of normal soda so we used to buy it. Had no clue it had gone out of business.

Every kid over 13 now will have heart problems from all these energy drinks and pre workouts.
