I agree that it is a garbage app and I don't use it.
I find the potential ban intriguing. Why does ownership have to be American? Other countries use Facebook and Twitter, and I'm sure our government collects their personal information too. Instead of targeting Chinese apps specifically, there should be general privacy rules that apply to all apps, regardless of their country of origin. Otherwise, it sets a precedent for other countries to ban apps from the U.S.

I heard Ron Paul say about this TT situation that the government creates the problem and then they create the solution and you can imagine who this benefits.
I make a little of my income off TT in some way or another, but it’s in total just one channel and not my main channel of income. It’s still better than say Meta who is not a good place for people to make money off of IMO. Too heavily censored and just annoying rules in general trying to hold you back.

China doesn’t allow our social media apps to run wild in their country, why should we allow their state owned app in ours? ???

I wouldn't have an issue with a reciprocating law like that. I don't think that is how it is worded though.
