Title: I dont know.....
Post by: joswift on March 22, 2025, 12:41:14 PM
Why does this statement even exist?

Are you going to the party?

"I dont know"

So you are going or not?

Look, if you havent made your mind up then say that, but saying "I dont know" makes you sound fucking stupid

If you are going you would say "yes", if you were not going you would say "no"

the worst is people saying "kind of" when they are talking..

You would never write it in grammar in the same circumstances

"we went to the shop to kind of get some shopping"

"There were kind of four of us"

"I went to a kind of meeting"

you can take "kind of" away and the sentence is gramatically perfect

Sometimes I don't know is the most humble thing to say.

Depends on the question, its not that "I dont know" isnt ever an option (How many Apples are in my orchard?) but its questions that require a Yes or No when "I dont know" shouldnt be an option.

I used to work with a couple of black dudes. Neither ever hardly said a word. Usually whenever I asked either of them a question they'd kind of make a frown and shrug their shoulders. Even if I asked them if they were hungry or needed a lunch break. Drove me fucking nuts.

Is "I'm undecided" acceptable to you?

Even if you say Im undecided that means "no" because its not a "yes"

At the time if asking if you are undecided about the party you are not commited to attend, so its a "no"

You could say, "up to now, Im not going"

‘fuk off’ is an appropriate response to 9 out of 10 questions, in my experience.

IDK in a really whiny voice is a good answer to any question.

Stone Cold style WHAT-ing is also useful.
