Title: The Gibbler's making his comeback
Post by: gibberj2 on May 04, 2006, 10:08:56 PM
The Gibbler is back in the gym training harder than ever. On my 24th birthday I will post my pics (that's the end of June). I did legs today. Last time I did legs before I took 3 weeks of working out I squatted 225 barely 4 reps. This time I did 8 reps! In 2 weeks I'll have all my strength back but the good thing is my waist is still 33 and sometimes a little bit less in the morning. My best squat is 255 for 4. 2 weeks will get me there again easy. I got my 10 pounds of protein and glutamine and I'm ready to go! I was posing in the mirror in the locker room and actually see abs though from behind i have these 2 small handles. I guess that's the last thing that goes away for me. I only weigh 178 now but at least my waist isn't 36.

well if you see my pictures in the natural board you'll see i dont look like anything serious but i'm improving. There will be pictures in the end of June. I just hope I'm not too fat. I'm still trying to figure out how much I need to eat. Seems like I need tons of food to grow but then the gut comes.

Just eat clean and often-the gains will come.Make breakfast and post workout(whey plus simple carbs) a priority.Good luck with it,mate,it's good to see someone on here posting honest poundages and showing progress.

Seems like I need tons of food to grow but then the gut comes.

Just incorporate some cardio every morning on an empty stomach. Do at least 20 minutes, medium intensity, and make sure you eat a good meal right after. This will burn fat and increase your metabolism, allowing you to eat enough to grow without getting fat. Taking a ECA stack would be beneficial too.

those aren't the measurements. let me explain something to you that you wouldn't understand because you're an asshole. You like to make fun of people to make up for whatever problem you have so you percieve that anyone posting a picture is trying to show off or say that they are better than someone else. I'm just putting my pictures to show how I'm doing over time and to get advice on what I need to work on.

So if anyone wants to give me advice it's welcome. I think my chest is what needs the most work.

THIS kind of post and training is what the sport is all about. I like the "got 10lbs of protein and glutamine" comment.
You looks like you have an ok frame from the recent pics but you need special attention to CARDIO along with diet.
This kinda thing makes me want to see what I can do, thanks for being honest, real and all the best. Keep me and the rest post on our progress. Thanks for having the courage many lack and good luck

1. didn't inflate his lifts or measurements
2. posted his pictures.

i have never and will never inflate anything. why should i? and why not post pics? i'm here because I want to improve my body. do any of you think i care one bit that you think i look good or not? or that you think i'm weak? Today I did squats and went up to 250. that's my highest squat for 4 reps. it's good for me because last time I only did 235. So why should I care what anyone says? HowieW why do you say I need to focus on diet and cardio? I obviously need more size than anything else. Also cardio is my number 1 killer. any time i've done any at all i've dropped a lot of muscle. For me losing fat is very simple, cut calories a little bit and train at a little bit faster pace. You guys know Vince Gironda was against cardio and Vince Taylor doesn't even do it. The cardio thing is very catabolic. The reason it's so big is because anyone with an awesome pro physique who does it can do it because since they're on steroids they don't lose muscle mass when cutting. Other guys may get away with it because of good genetics but someone like me loses muscle imediately when they stop working out and with genetics like that I've seen that cardio is really bad for me. Anyone wanna tell me what bodyparts or exercises they think I should do more? My chest has always sucked. First it was that I had no lower chest whatsoever. Now I've got a little but I gotta fill in the hole in the middle. My shoulders are kinda flat too. I've been doing lots of lateral raises but they don't seem to be working too well. As for my back I think I just need more time.

If you really want lateral raises to be effective, concentrate on getting the side of your hand at little finger end highest at the top of the movement.

And just a suggestion, don't post pics as your poundages are very low (if you're just starting why shouldn't they be low).

Congrats to you Gibb for being honest w/your posts.Big difference in your physique from the 120 lb. beginner pic I saw.
As to your physique? Yes your chest needs work. Lower chest isn't so bad but would concentrate more on your upper chest & also start going to work harder on your delts to get wider & create an illusion of a smaller waist & yours looks to be wide (a la Arnold) to me. I would also get more back work in there also. More lower back work as it will help lessen the size of your waist.
By the way, from looking at you you have some very decent looking calves & would probably be able to put some good size on them thighs of yours. All in the work your willing to put in to get the physique you want which takes hard work.Once again congrats & good luck.

no ,seriously

he posted pics and wanted some advice...unlike some others he never said that he looks brutal

stop thinking so much and do cardio---you obviously dont have the genetics of a Vince Taylor or Dexter jackson----you need it --just keep ur protein high-------------you should get to at least around 10% bf before you even think about trying to put on some size otherwise you'll just turn into a sloppy fat mess and then when you go to cut you'll burn even more muscle.

I have pics of me at that weight too, I also got fat and convinced myself that it was muscle.

I already told you gibber your transformation was not phenomenal.  Most skinny guys can activate it.  Its really not rocket science, you eat a lot and you add weight.  (Most of it fat of course).

Your poundages don't lie though.

i totally disagree about the cardio. since when was cardio so great? "cardio" reffers to getting your heartrate faster. you can do that in many other ways. a cardio session burns very little calories. and that stuff about your metabolism being higher for the next few hours is crap because lifting weights gives you that even better. you're better off not eating the extra calories. every time i've done cardio i've dropped lots of muscle. what makes you think you're losing fat alone when you're doing that cardio anyway? if i'm not on steroids i'm not gonna run on the hampster wheel. that's all i got to say about that. Vince Gironda was the best trainer for naturals and what did he say about cardio? Wheather you guys agree on the cardio with me or not is besides the point because I won't do it. If you say LOSE FAT then I'll do it but my way. Anyway the cardio isn't gonna fill in my chest, make my shoulders bigger, back thicker, etc. so it has really not much at all to do with this topic.

The 120 pound pic. I believe i was 19. i had been like 140 or something before but lost it again. i'm close to 24 now but i've been training consistantly since December 04'. my high (fat) weight was 192. Now I'm 181.

By the way my claves are totally natural. As in I don't even train them. They just grow by themselves, that's the way they are.

Look at the length of the chicks hair when she's walking in the room vs the behind her shot when she's getting punched.  Way longer ie:wig...ie: bad stunt double.

you need to find a dude who lives in a trailer, go over there, get naked, smile real big, and have your buddy take a picture. That is a great way to get noticed around here.

You are making good progress gibber...but I think you should not be worrying about focusing on any certain body part...you should be concentrating on heavy, basic compound movements right now because you are still building your base,I guess you would call it..you know what I mean...get a good solid foundation of muscle then worry about the fine tuning later...Just my opinion. :)

well it's not fine tuing it's building. i need to build better shoulders and chest especially the top seems to be the biggest issue. as far as building a foundation. i squat and deadlift if that's what you all mean.

i've had shoulder pain since high school but aparently now it doesn't bother me any more. the inner part of my left elbow/tricep area hurts. like right in the funnybone area. anyway i was doing inclines. 160 for 5 reps. GO ME! I wonder what that translates to in flat bench. Also I can do 135 military press with barbell. I was shocked because the last time i had done that exercise it was when i was when i weighed 150 and i could only do a 10 plate on each side. A friend of mine used to say i worked out with CD's. Anyway my lift never increased so i totally cut out that exercise until the other day i wanted to see what i can do and i did 135. I started out with quarters thinking it would be heavy because i had NO idea how much i can lift. It feels good that you're military pressing 45's. to weak people it looks amazing. So these are my lifts now.

Incline barbell bench   160 - 5 reps
Squat                       260- 6 reps
Deadlift                     270- 2 reps
Military press             135- 5 reps

Oh dear. Gibblet you look like shit. But you have had the balls to post your pics and for that you have my respect. With some hard work you can have a good body - but cardio is a must! Don't use genetically gifted pros as an excuse not to do it. 40 mins, 4 times a week, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Its boring, but you'll notice the difference after about a month [providing your diet is good].
Keep your workouts intense - it shouldn't take more than half an hour to train a bodypart, except legs. Six to ten sets per bodypart, last set of every exercise to failure. Stick to this and you'll have a completely different physique after two or three months [providing your diet is good].
Good luck.

Dude, I apologize for tearing you up before, but you just gotta work! Theres nothing wrong with just starting out, but postin pics at this stage of the game may come off as trying to get notices I guess. The good thing is you look way better than candidate.  ;D

From seeing your pics, just Focus on your diet...I tell this to folks all the time, its what you eat! And what you DONT eat! Training, sure its important, but diet, diet, diet... Expecially if your a natural...when your natural you wont have the  luxury of transforming yourself into a mujscl bound beast in 10 weeks..just by doing a cycle, eating like a horse, and training hard... Being natural you have to be persisitent and look at the big picture..OVER YEARS.. just learn to live the bodybuilding lifestyle every day, all year...
One of my mistakes, Ive been training for along time, but over that time there was a 5 year gap after being in contest shape-  where although I kept training, my diet was SHIT..i put on lots of BF now im paying for it.I blew up to 260..Now im 220..I need to be 190-210... So, dont go over board with eating too much..unless your metabolism can handle it..(eating lots of high calorie foods)...
Good luck. If i were you also, just invest your money in protein powders, dont worry about the other stiff out there.. and drink atleast 2 a day. with 3-4 good meals a day.

gibbler, you need more width.  do a shitload of weighted chin-ups, pulldowns, and side laterals (with good form).  also, for your torso, lots of incline db presses, make sure you go all the way down till you touch your shoulders, unlike most of the clowns in my gym who do quarter movements.

do lots of basic movements, heavy squats, deadlifts, bb rows.  heavy squats will pack mass like nothing else.

finally, do NOT neglect calves, not doing them is like saying that black bodybuilders do not need to tan.

hope this helps.

neglect calves? have you seen my calves?
Title: Re: The Gibbler's making his comeback
Post by: triple_pickle on July 02, 2006, 09:11:13 PM
it does not matter whether your calves are naturally big.  you still need to define them.  i've seen many guys with tiny waists claiming they do not need to do abs because they waist is narrow.  guess what, they look like sh.t when compared to guys with abs.

also, the most important thing is to be consistent.  there should be no more "comebacks."  you gotta train all the year around if you want to make progress.  take no more than two one-week breaks a year.

By the looks of your squat numbers compared to your deadlift I'd say you're not even going close to full range on the squats.
Title: Re: The Gibbler's making his comeback

not true. i do my squats parallel. i don't go lower because i dont wanna build my glutes more. the thing is that i've been doing squats since the very beginning when i started training. deadlifts are pretty new to me and i have not even done 20 workouts with deadlifts. also my legs as you can see are a lot better than my back and my grip isn't all that.

as far as calves pickle the reason they are not defined is because i lack definition all over.
