I grew up a Yankee fan, but I switched to the Rays in recent years.
I’ve always watched quite a bit of Mets games originally living pretty close to the stadium.
The new rules fixed a lot of problems the game had, but challenging balls and strikes needed to be implemented full time or at least the playoffs.
Those new bats seem pretty sketchy; reminds me of those banned tennis rackets I’ve heard of in the 70’s.

O’s but I’m not a huge baseball fan. To be honest, I’ve seen the cubs twice in person and that’s the only team I’ve done that with.

The Texas Rangers moved here when I was 12 years old.The company my dad worked for had season tickets and the employees took turns using them.They lost over a hundred games that year so after a few weeks no one wanted the tickets so we got them just about every week.Especially the weekday games.My dad would pick me up right after work and we would get out there early enough to watch batting practice most games.I always liked watching that.Once we even talked to Ted Williams which was a little intimidating for a 12 year old.He seemed like an old bastard.Well the Rangers could never win it all and in 2011 they were one strike from winning the World Series and let it get away.They went downhill and within a couple years they were losing 100 games again.I decided they just were not going to win a World Series in my life time.Then 2 years ago out of freaking nowhere they got hot at exactly the right time and won the whole damn thing.My life as a fan is complete 😊

Ted Williams was great in his day. He was also a Marine fighter pilot in the Korean War.

It's been a terrific start for him. Hard to believe we won a game with an outfield trio of McKinstry, Kriedler and Margo. LOL. Nice to see Casey Mize pitch like a number one pick finally.

Then in 2023, everything was great again
My dad who I talked about in my post died in 97.In 2011 in game 6 when they were one pitch from winning it I said to my wife I wish my dad was here to see this.Then when they let it slip away in about the worst way you could I then told my wife I’m glad my dad’s not here to see this.

Yankees from birth.
My grandparents were at the stadium for Lou Gehrig's retirement speech.
Before my dad passed we had gone to bunch of games together and later when he had Alzheimer's he would ask me if the old time players like Joe D and Micky Mantle were still alive. I would put the game on his tv and he was good and happy for however long the game took to play.
Now the company I work for has season tickets for the Yanks and I get to go a bunch of times per year for free.
....So yeah Yankees forever for me!

Bets are on to who loses first. I'm a huge Dodgers fan, they start their series with Philadelphia (4-1). Padres start their series with the Cubs (5-4) today. Hate to bet against my own team, but it's a pretty good chance Dodgers drop one in this series.

Then Kershaw's rehab gets delayed until 2028.
This should all happen by mid year.

I did since 1961, but they have a history of top prospect pitchers not panning out, esp. the ones they baby, see spencer howard and jesse biddle. I hope painter isn't another one on this list.

the Seattle Mariners' 2001 season was the 25th since the franchise's inception. They finished with a 116-46 record (. 71605 win %), tying the major league record for wins in the modern era since 1901, set by the 1906 Chicago Cubs, and setting the record for wins by an American League team. that doesn't guarantee a team winning it all remember the mariners.

Always a baseball fan. I played when I was younger. Little League/Pony from 9-13 (pitch/ catcher) junior year in HS, then from 19-22 (3rd/ Catcher) in single A AA. Coached my son from T-ball-HS/Travel (Catcher) As a Strength coach, I’ve had several enter the MLB. I spend 3 years as a HS position coach (Catcher). A side of me I never talked about.
As an add on. One of my athletes, a Catcher, was a freshman in HS and was a verbal commit to USC. When he was a junior in HS, Scott Boris was a regular in my gym. He wanted make sure he wasn’t getting hurt. Long story short, he wound up signing with St. Louis

Much more competitive, skill level much better and what I would call a cleaner way playing meaning much less errors made, smoother transitions in play (ex; Double plays, third to first, etc). In the box you learn not to crowd the plate or you get nailed or whoever was on the mound won’t hesitate to come up high and tight and brush you off. If I remember correctly we didn’t have ear and cheek protection.
A lot of players were just down on either rehab assignment or got sent back down (from Bigs) for substandard performance (errors, not hitting, etc) I only spent 3-4 weeks then got sent back down.

When you were playing A and AA ball, were you jacked? When was that … the mid 80s?

One of my good friends got drafted. He was the best hitter in BC college history at the collegiate level.
His minor league stats were not good. I asked him what changed.
He said, in college, he could wait, get ahead in the count, and get his pitch to hit. In the minors, if he was ahead 2-1, even 3-0, it was knees-corner out at 95.
A completely different game, and that was single A.
What the pros do is incomprehensible.
Even moreso at this point.

Game ended up phils-8, dodgers-7, phillies took 2 out of three fron the dodgers. both team's DHs spent most of the series just standing there or flailing at air.
