Title: RIP Body Snatcher
Post by: beakdoctor on June 05, 2025, 07:52:24 AM
Wes and Abe will know...

Mike McCallum, a world class boxing champion, has passed away yesterday at the age of 68.

A hallmark of 80's and 90's boxing, McCallum beat other legendary fighters like Julian Jackson,  Herol Graham, Donald Curry, Milton McCrory, Ayub Kalule, Steve Collins, Michael Watson, and Jeff Harding. Additionally he split 2 fights with Sumbu Kalambay and was 0-2-1 against James Toney, many believing it should have been 1-1-1, also went the distance with a prime Roy Jones Jr at a time when RJJ was considered the lb4lb best and still sported a high ko percentage.

One of the very best of that era & it was a tough era to be a standout.

R.I.P  Mike.

I am one who thought Mike won the 1st Toney fight.  Very close, not a robbery but I thought Mike won.  And that was Toney, in my opinion, at his all time best.  68 is too young.  I hope he enjoyed his retirement.  RIP.
