Billy Joel is recalling a heartbreaking period in his life ... revealing he attempted suicide twice in his 20s over the guilt he carried after having an affair with his best friend's wife.
My question is Did he really try to kill himself? If so, what went wrong?

I banged one of my best friend's girlfriends back in the day.
She was one wild girl and used to fondle my crotch while we were all riding in the same car.
Not sure if he ever found out but probably did eventually. Lost touch with him over the years.
I shouldn't have done it among other regrettable actions in my life.

Great artist but he should have retired from performing and all media involvement many years ago. Typically one that cannot give up the attention whoring. It seems he has nothing else to do, despite having that much money, kids, grandkids etc

None of these singers can acknowledge when their best years are behind them. But if people are still paying to see them- wouldn't you take

Billy Joel is my favorite musical artist. Growing up with his music was the most relevant, and still after all thee years, the best.
The 70s were full of disco, drugs and in some people not making it, despair. (Not unlike the times now).

I had an opportunity to see him in 1976 for probably $5 but passed which was dumb but he was just starting to get popular then.
Also around the same time I missed seeing AC/DC.

I saw him last year at Madison Square Garden and he still sounded pretty good. He had some weird eye thing going on, said he had a “drip” and wasn’t crying. Anyway, Trey Anistasio came out and played three songs with him. It was pretty cool.

Not only that, an artist can look better, perform better ,have way better-quality songs later in life, and the audience will forever be interested in the "early stuff" old songs only.

Funny, literally yesterday I was watching a thing on PBS, I guess it took place back in 2013 with a bunch of one or two hit wonders of the 60’s and it was a bit sad to see them up there, cut off sleeves and dyed hair playing their one hit. Iron Butterfly guy was probably the worst.

I grew up on LI and heard stories how he played at local bar near my house on a pretty regular basis at one point. Im not sure if Billy’s Mom is still alive but my Mom knew her some years ago. He named one of his albums “Cold Spring Habor” which was a town I drove through every day to get to college.
