I went through this mess 12 years ago, after Bally went belly up. LA Fitness bought some of the clubs. I thought the local Bally Total Fitness club where I trained would be an LA Fitness place (where the weights are so clean, you can practically eat off them).
Instead, it became a Crunch Fitness place. This particular club SUCKED, especially since they got rid of the kids' club. That meant I couldn't take my kids (who were elementary and kindergarten at the time) with me and had to wait for my wife to come home before I could hit the iron. And the equipment with which they replaced Bally's stuff was lousy.
I joined 24-Hour Fitness in 2013 when I moved to KC and have been a member since then. Now, I've been Crunched AGAIN!! I just hope the equipment isn't as sorry as that in the previous club was. As of today, 24-Hour Fitness (at least here in Orlando) is KAPUT!!

Not quite. I stopped that after Thanksgiving 2023. 24-Hour Fitness had black Friday sales where you can get 1-year or 2-year membership for a bargain. So, I got the 2-year deal, which ends after Thanksgiving of this year.

common practice in the gym industry to drop prices and flood their books with members leading up to a sale. gone through that process a couple times.

Crunch Fitness has a pretty shitty reputation - put your money in a soloflex ;D

I thought that place was done. There were two in my “area” that I knew of and both closed years ago.

Get your own equipment and train at home.
If you can't afford to outfit a home gym buy a couple sandbags and use them.
Become a beast.

Crunch has a horrible reputation. The only redeeming factor to it is that at least they have free weights and free weight machines. Unlike Planet Fitness for liability reasons.

It turns out Crunch Fitness purchased 9 24-Hour Fitness clubs in FL: Four (4) in Miami-Dade county and five (5) in Orange County, including where I train.
That also explains why their supplements were marked down 80%. If I hadn't already stocked up on the items of interest, I would have acted a fool and cleared their shelves. ;D
