Oh brother... "The Heavy Duty College" Gee, I wonder what his take will be ::)
Any adult who's been around bodybuilding or followed it for more than a few years and still believes the Colorado Experiment happened exactly the way Arthur Jones reported, is an imbecile.

Barbell Curl (warmup) - 1 set, 20 reps, 200 pounds
Nobody has ever done this. Ever. Certainly not as a warmup.
Maybe if you're cheating and swinging the weight like a total madman... maybe... but then it's not really a "warmup."
If you like the torn bicep look, and want a couple for yourself, that's how you'd train.
Most of the weights in that magazine article are pure fantasy, but that one is just RETARDED.

The world record strict curl is something like 250 pounds
He was not strict curling
Loose style with plenty of swing ok, maybe...

250 pounds for one grueling, hard-fought rep.
200 pounds for 20, even with absolute shit form? As a warmup? Pure fantasy and frankly irresponsible to publish. As the modern record is 250, Viator probably couldn't do 200 for one clean rep, and nobody has ever done 200x20, even with poor form.
But I see that the magazine printed "(Nautilus machine)" next to it, in parenthesis. Maybe it was one of those old weight-stack machines? If that's the case, it's possible. Some bicep/tricep machines are laughably easy and over-leveraged.

;D It's always about the curl. What about the 455 incline press for reps ?? do you believe that to be true. ??

Yep I have to agree that 200 for 20 is impossible
Kevin only curled the 100 dumbbells for 3 or 4 reps and Kevin was one of the strongest bodybuilders ever
200 for 20 on the Nautilus curl was what it was I bet

But Casey was a genuine freak of nature. esp in his bulk periods.

Did he really press 500 or what that just a publicity pic?
Kevin benched 500 for a double but he had 30+ pounds of lean dry tissue on him compared to Casey

Casey was rumored to be one of the stronger bodybuilders of the time. I've never heard of specific numbers/poundages but I doubt he was the type to use fake weights just for publicity.

from what i read, ray mentzer was stronger than casey. i dont think anyone can strict curl that much weight. casey was a genetic freak i think he won the mr america contest in 1971 and didnt make his pro debut until 1979 and did well in his comeback here is casey at the ripe age of 19

Casey was the Sam Sulek of the 70s. Bad hair and ungodly mass

They were both insanely strong. It seems any bodybuilder who succeeded with HIT had similar genetics.

Casey and Mike both almost peaked at 19 :D
Casey: max sets of leg presses and extensions and then immediately 20 reps with 505 on the squat. Never happened. Everything in those mags was just complete shit :-X :D
The visual change in those Colorado pics is very possible but the quoted stats are baloney.

Ydp there's no way that happened
He did gain 46 pounds but his bodyfat stayed the same he was kot 3% at the end and not 14% at the start stayed at around 7-8

Yeah, that was another one. 505x20 is elite. 505x20 as a drop set, immediately after leg presses and extensions to exhaustion? Hahahaha
But then they have really reasonable parts, like shrugs with 280 pounds. I also believe that he could have OHP'd 215x20, pretty easily. (But I don't know about doing it before training chest...)
It's a combination of completely unbelievable bullshit with some numbers that seem reasonable.

John little twisting the facts to suit his own narrative once again.

He keeps saying that "all of the studies prove Mentzer right" and when I ask for any of these studies I get crickets. Same with Mr. America John Heart.

Exactly. I asked him to show any evidence of the heavy duty hit method actually working. He couldn't provide any. Over 5 decades of this method being around and con men like little and heart can't show any proof. There has never been a successful bodybuilder who has used hit exclusively to build their physique. Not even Yates as he used the half pyramid system but tried to dress it up as something else like hit. Hit is nothing but a myth.

Brutal if true
