If I missed anyone please forgive me......I`m doing some tall Valium as I have been feeling like the fucking walls have been closing in on me all day before todays appointment.

Ran out of Valium and the head of Oncolgy was nice enough to prescribe more to make it through the next few days cuz I was extremely anxious and on the verge of a panic attack.

Tomorrow is an Ultrasound,Echo Cardiograph,next day I`m outtta` here.

Hade a Pet Scan 2 days ago, numerous Cat scans, and tons of fucking Chemo......9 hour surgery.....I`m skerred, but I always play the hand I`m dealt, not like in the old days when I would have drank and never even addressed this at all until they found me dead in the streets

I think I finally grew up..............NAHH.... .fuck that noise!  ;D

Thanks my getbig family and brothers in IRON!

Have I missed something?
Always a risk for a complication in surgery but wasn’t this to take the tumor(s) out?
So nothing acutely life threatening?

Apart from his illness Wes is in better condition than 90% of his age group.
I totally believe he’ll be back here once he’s settled again 🤞

Wes may have had either the robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy or a traditional open surgery. Either way, hospital stays following the Whipple procedure (pancreatic cancer surgery) are anywhere from one to two weeks. Full recovery can take several months, with most people returning to normal life within four to six weeks.

Neither Wes nor his wife have posted any updates on their Facebook pages yet, which is to be expected.

Really hoping for the best. But understandably wes has lost lots of weight and has diabetes because the pancreas is offline, but hoping it's advantageous to weigh less now. Like you say all surgery involves risk, and more so if weakened with illnesses, diabetes and so on. wes has always maintained such a positive persona on here, got to like him 8)

I don't know if wes is that active on FB, I messaged him there when the board was offline but the message is unread.

Did you Google that information?

Yes, I googled some of what I posted.  Are you disputing the accuracy of that information? Fine. If you know better, feel free to share your knowledge. If you have other information about expected recovery times after a major a surgery, I would appreciate knowing what you discovered. Based on what I know from experience is that recovery time is somewhat dependent on a patient's health and age. (which is logical, so there was no need to google it).

Several years ago, I had prostate cancer and chose to have the da Vinci robotic prostatectomy because it was less invasive with possibly fewer complications than traditional open surgery has. BTW, while I did not Google the da Vinci method before deciding on it, OMSI, the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry has a da Vinci robotic surgery simulator on display which visitors could use. After playing around with it, I prayed that my urologist had steadier hands than I did. LOL!

I believe I remember Wes either posted or sent me a PM me quite a while back that he was going to need the Whipple procedure. Just recently, he also posted that the surgery would take nine hours, which concurs with available information about the time involved in the Whipple procedure.

Before Google, back in the ancient times of my youth, I looked everything up in the Encyclopedia Britanica set which was on the bookshelf in our den, plus I often double checked the annual updates for accuracy.

Taken OFF life support sounds positive, unless it's for "do not revive" reasons. Keep fighting Tim! Actually I don't doubt Tim's will to fight, hoping the planets align in his favor. :)

Wes does not have heart failure he wants to keep his weight up if possible

Yes he mentioned many months ago that a doc said it was positive if he lost some weight before surgery. Recently he has complained of losing an alarming amount weight and his appetite was very poor, couldn't eat. Obviously you'd want to keep some muscle and strength to help you fight illness. This is not about Tim per se, but a measure of probable longevity in the elderly is measuring their grip strength, which I find interesting  8)

Recovery could take a while .....
AI Overview
Full recovery from Whipple surgery, also known as pancreaticoduodenectomy, typically takes about 1 to 3 months for most individuals, but it can take up to six months or even a year to feel fully back to normal. The initial recovery period in the hospital usually lasts for 1-2 weeks, with patients being monitored in the ICU or HDU initially. Factors like overall health, the complexity of the surgery, and individual healing rates can influence the duration of recovery

Bette has not posted anything about Tim or how he is doing as of late. Neither has his sister. It is very frustrating to those of us who are deeply concerned about Tim's recovery. All anyone can do is hope for the best.

That said, anyone have Tim's celly?

Recovery could take a while .....
AI Overview
Full recovery from Whipple surgery, also known as pancreaticoduodenectomy, typically takes about 1 to 3 months for most individuals, but it can take up to six months or even a year to feel fully back to normal. The initial recovery period in the hospital usually lasts for 1-2 weeks, with patients being monitored in the ICU or HDU initially. Factors like overall health, the complexity of the surgery, and individual healing rates can influence the duration of recovery

I don't think you'd have to be fully "recovered" for a quick post that surgery is over and you're alive.

Don't all smart phones have voice to text? I started using it and via webcam on my PC two years ago.  I proof read and correct before I send.
I find that it's a lot easier to use V-T for several paragraphs than to type.

That was a big ordeal you went through Wes. It takes balls to face it for sure. I've seen a relative who went through it and had a lung removed. Brutal surgery. You feel robbed of something when that happens.

A sibling's friend is dealing with cancer and she's not 50 yet. The surgery would result in her needing a urostomy bag for the remainder of her life - or some other bypass mechanism. She's opted to not go with it since life would not be worth it for her with all that BS and would rather face death like a warrior.

Welcome back my friend.  Elated that you are home and hopefully on the mend.  Back in 97, a co-worker and good friend underwent a kidney transplant.  At the time he was told that in 10 years he'd need another one.  Almost 30 years later, his is still going strong.  Before anyone says apples to oranges, my point is that modern medicine and science evolves and while my friends transplant has lasted 3 times the original expectancy, I'm hoping the same will be true of Wes' doctor's estimate of 2-7 years.  I'm going with 15-20 more for Wes.  Love you buddy.

I don't blame you. I don't like the idea of receiving general anaesthetics. People have died receiving tooth implants!

Thanks. She’s a friend of my sister’s. I haven’t seen her recently, but I’ve met her a few times. She’s a strong, athletic woman who prefers natural treatments and has maintained a great diet over the years. Of course, that’s no guarantee. I’ve seen far too many people lose their battle with cancer — it’s brutal. Hopefully, AI will one day help us find a real cure, though I’m not sure the powers that be truly want one. Some may even see the disease as a form of population control. Many elites have little interest in a large human population, and advances in AI won’t change their minds.
