Hafthor yesterday pulled 505 kg (1113 lbs) at a competition in Germany, breaking his own world record of 501 kg. Absolutely insane!
-
Doesn't even look like that would've been his absolute max, rather looked like he would've gotten at least 3-5 kg more in the tank (and he's also significantly lighter than at his last word record attempt with 501 kg)
-
Amazing!
-
DAMN!!!
-
I wish him good luck with his hip replacements and back surgeries. Hopefully he does not end up like Ronnie the Retard
-
I think Mitch Hooper said Thor was going to try 510 at giants live, coming up.
If you see his 480kg pull from a couple of weeks ago, he probably has more in the tank.
-
He did an insane about of eating before this, all clean meals every 2.5hrs. That's almost the hardest part.

why would that make any difference?
I know a guy who ran marathons , he ran on zero carbs and fully carbed up
His times were the same.
-
It makes a huge difference for strength.

Would be one of the stronger posters here.

Even when fully carbed up, just how long will it last during a marathon?
If Thor feels he needed more bodyweight then he needed.
For me bodyweight effects least on deads and most in bench but to each for their own.
-
It has always been my experience, more food more strength for heavy lifting, not just carbs everything.
-
i recall seeing eddie hall shopping for his food
absolute shitshow of junk in honesty and loads of it
-

but you dont know why?
Tell me, if Thor had eaten more food than he did would he have lifted more?
You can only get so much benefit from the food you eat, the food you eat now really only gets used tomorrow unless you eat simple sugars

i fairness jo i THINK its difficult to equate strongman- some of them have access to cybergenics, FRAS, Betasitersterol, Inosine, Mumie, Smilax Officianalis, Boron and Dibencozide,
I recall when I was 15 I saved up ans got a Davina 7 Day Crash Weight Gain Plan- Jamie Reeves used to 'swear biy it'.
At the ed of the week I was 5 lb heavier. by the following week it was gone.
-
I switched over to Cybergenics Infinit 1700. that'll show them. It didnt I was shitting through the eye of a needle - nearly ruined a pair of platinum physique baggies when I got caught out

I cant see how binge eating is going to help in the last few days before a lift
Once you are fully glycogen loaded then what else will more food do?

I don't think he was binge eating, I think he was maintaining. Either way, he pulled that 505kg and left no question about who holds the record now. I hope Eddie Hall was watching live. :D

Poor Eddies ego wont be able to handle it, his 500k nearly killed him
-
eddie hall wsm was ace
eddie hall now- absolute sideshow
hehad a man vs food type show on A few years back. as hes not a pro eater he lost the majority of the challenge
I remember nathan de ash doing a hot wing challenge and ending up in hospital in agony
I tend to agree with jeff in terms of glyco levels HOWEVER I feel psychologically some strongmen get a mental lift if they are fully loaded!
-
Ronnie did 800lbs for 2 reps 5 weeks out from the Olympia while dieting at around 6% BF
Imagine if Ronnie had been eating 15 meals a day of steak and rice.
-

He was hungry.

Credit where it's due, he was the first. In interviews I've seen him talking about blood transfusions, hypnotists and therapists in the effort leading up to the 500kg lift. I wonder the psychological impact that had on Eddies ability vs Thor eating every 2.5hrs. :D

He was well fueled up for the big lift after days of eating big. I am a good bit stronger after a couple of meals on the same day.

Surprised it was "clean." Hall he said he went out to eat the night before and ordered a pound of beef fat on top of the meats or whatever. Thor is real fat now so wondering how clean the diet actually is. But beef is always in like I told dj. Not shrimp :D
Saw this the other day, eat big to get strong. These guys love beer too, like the Japanese Sumo.

I used to buy beef fat at the butchers and fry it up.
The last time they wanted too much for it so haven't bought it since.

I haven't done it yet but saw some chefs cutting out the fat cap on some cuts and frying it up and then cooking the meat in it. Probably tasted good that way. What's your experience on taste this way?
-
Health and fitness...
-
Do they not care about dying? What they’re doing, the drugs the shitty diet, carrying too much mass and shit, even the blood pressure spikes from the lifts themselves are making them time bombs. I got too much to love for, fuck that.

I got to a great steak place and some of the cuts they leave the fat cap on it. I eat it and don’t mind it, although I don’t eat all of it. Brings flavor to the meat(no homo).

The fat tastes good.
There is usually still some meat attached.
You should get it pretty cheap though since probably they just throw it out.
I would ask them if they have any beef fat available. If so, they'd ask me how much I want and I'd for example
say 5 lbs and they'd wrap it up.
Make sure to ask the price first per pound. You don't want to pay much for it.

Better to die an early death lifting heavy bars than live many years experiencing life surrounded by friends and family.
-
He just made 100k lifting a heavy bar.

Awesome Deadlifting !!
Probably got a few more KG's left in him to pull.
Anyone know who the young I believe South African lad is who also
Pulls around 500kg at around 120kg Bw. ??

Great for frying potatoes. I use extra brisket fat for that. It isn't technically tallow since it isn't the stuff from around the kidneys but it works just fine for cooking savory foods.

Those Mongolians eat Sheep's tail fat, big slices of it between meats and onions and liver on those skewers :-X "It contains lots of vitamins!"

Eating "tons" makes you hold even more water, plus it increases waist circumference :D The bigger and more bloated you are the stronger you often are. More unhealthy too of course. We have this disgusting 21 year old strongman at the gym, he's always bragging about how much food he is eating, "just ate two pizzas with 2 liters of whole milk, letting it digest a bit and then go to the buffet before starting lifting." "I never start lifting unless I've had at least 5K calories in me." He doesn't appear to know how disgusting he looks, fat as fuck with nasty acne. He probably doesn't understand that almost no one would want that strength if it came with that abomination of a body. But let's let everyone pursue whatever dream they have... :D I personally would get as big/fat as Thor if it made me deadlift the most in history, 100%. It's dangerous but it's history too and he can leverage that into actual money. Hall didn't really acknowledge Thor's 501kg due to them weighing the plates themselves, haven't seen if he's commented now...

Eddie Hall has given Thor his props on this lifts. Nice to see the sportsmanship this time around.

Its not the food as much as it is actual bodyweight. The more uou weigh the easier a given weight can be moved.

Ok, that's good to see, even if it's a bitter pill for Hall :D

Hes too gifted to have the drive needed to max his body out. I would guess hes good for another 50-100 kilos but we will never see it because hes lazy

he just deadlifted the world record and you call him lazy, before that he knocked Eddies head about, he is rich too ::)
-

Ok, he did just deadlift over half a tonne.

mass moves mass
Still, the law of diminishing returns still must apply if Thor weighed 700lbs would he be any stronger?
-

Come on man, it's impossible to be lazy and still dead 505 kilos. Good for another 50-100 kilos, that's crazy talk bro :D For all we know this might not be able to be duplicated by him, no matter what he does. Sometimes you need the stars to align perfectly to do a WR, for many they probaly miss their chance, impossible to know though. We will see if he can better this. A tiny slight tweak in his back for example could take out his chances for another perfect day.
Furthermore it's IMPOSSIBLE to know how hard a lift is for someone by just looking at it. If he had an extra pound on there it might have been stuck to the floor. When I did 770 guys said I had another 30lbs in me that day. No way, no how. Another 250 grams and it might not have moved at all. The real top lifters can sometimes make absolute maxes look "easy" but only they know how heavy it actually felt. JMO 8)

but another 250gms of carbs and it would have flew up. ;D ;D

Impossible to know :D Another 250 grams of carbs might have given me a heart attack in some unlucky extreme circumstance. At my strongest I did not feel good at all, actually felt like I was dying, like I might keel over any minute (I think due to the high PEDs mostly). I even told a few people this. Then covid came and it really fucked me up, probably due to already being unhealthy.
I doubt Hafthor is feeling healthy at this moment, enormous strain on various systems in the body. Hall almost died doing the 500kg. Imagine how risky it is for a 440lbs man to lift that much, no doubt on extreme PEDs and stimlants, heart could stop doing the lift. Hall said he was so out of it he couldn't even drive home several hours after, 200 heart rate :D

Being strong is pointless if all you are outside the gym is the fat kunt sat in the corner at parties with 4 plates of buffet sweating buckets making everyone else feel sick.
-

You're nuts. He does not have another 50-100 kg in that lift.
When Eddie broke the world record with his 500kg deadlift in 2016, nobody came close. Including Hafthor. Thor is in this video - he really struggled to make that 440kg lift. Jerry Pritchett was second best that day I think, followed by Magnusson. So in 2025, Thor added 65kg to his 2016 lift. There is no way he is adding another 50-100kg to 505kg.
-
Amazing lift by Hafthor. Good job. I still think peak Eddie was stronger in static lifts than Thor. If the record was 505kg, Eddie would have trained to lift 510kg or more.
Deadlift, bench press, squat, overhead press. Eddie was simply stronger. There is no way Thor could have benched like this:
-
Congrats to Thor. He didn't have his thumbs wrapped over the bar, haven't noticed that before. And that dude that jumped on him right after he lifted a world record deadlift is a total asshole haha

That's his father! They are about the same height. His dad was a champion arm wrestler I think.

Thor with his father and grandfather.

Comment under his latest YouTube Video:
"From 501 to boxing, a torn pec, and now 505 — this wasn’t just a deadlift, it was a statement. Strongest comeback in strength sports history. Thank you for letting us witness greatness, Thor"
