Title: Correct Deadlift Form?
Post by: SweetDaddySiki on August 25, 2025, 05:34:51 AM
Ok; I've seen several videos on how to deadlift and they all seem different. When I was a kid, I worked in a furniture store. We were taught to lift with your legs (squat "up" and bend up from the waist once you're standing or right before). Is this the proper technique for deadlifts? I find I'm doing a similiar form with deadlifts and seem to be working my legs than anything. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I´ve really only mainly done Romanian Deads for Hammies but Hex Bar is the way to go for me.
Standard from the floor Deads i have never really liked or had any real Back development, some claim big back gains but i´ve seen small guys with no back pull a good standard Deadlift..
each to his own :)

How a person does it varies because of their build.

Length of arms, length of legs, torso length, etc.

Don't overthink it.  The deadlift is one of the simplest lifts there is.

Your head should align with your spine which usually means looking slightly downward when starting the lift, not craning your neck to look straight ahead like this gif.

Here's the general form:

Thanks! That makes sense now and yes I overthink things. Speaking of overthinking, isn't RDL's and deadlifts the same movement except for the pause at the shins during RDL's? Wouldn't they both affect the hamstrings the same way?

The new corrected deadlift is the Mozambique/ Krzykstani deadlift
It supercedes the Romanian Polish Moldova deadlifts - FFS 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

constant tension on the Romanian deads & more focused on the Hammies but it´s all down to Genetics ..some people can pick up a box of apples every day & grow  :D
also try old school straight leg Deads
