I had a sociology professor who said that boxing was the sport that was the litmus test for racial/ethnic groups that showed when the group rose out of poverty they no longer resorted to boxing.

MMA is much more like fighting and a small MMA fighter would annihilate a larger boxer in a real fight.

if that's the reasoning that we call lightweights "the best" we can go all the way to the lightest classes or even girls division... just because one of them had a long winning streak in their division
