Title: Showing My Support For Lee Priest and Twinlab
Post by: Grundle on May 06, 2006, 01:07:54 AM
I will post the serial numbers on each bottle of Twinlab product I buy.  This will both display my support for Lee and his candid, no bullshit attitude, but also dispel the notion proposed by some "pro"' bodybuilders on this site that we getbiggers are not valued consumers. I suggest anyone else who's offended by this bs to do the same.

Hey Lee, I thought MD owned Twinlab.  Then someone from MD came on and said they don't.  What happened there?

Actually, it was the other way around. Twinlab was once owned by the Blechman family, including Steve Blechman, the editor-in-chief of MD. If I'm not mistaken, the rift between the Steve, MD, and the rest of the Blechman family, and Twinlab started while MD was going through its identity crisis (Muscular Development-Fitness-Health/All-Natural Muscular Development/Muscular Development, featuring mainstream athletes and virtually no bodybuilders, etc.).

Steve kept the magazine; the other Blechmans kept the supplement company. Beyond that, I believe Twinlab had a change of ownership, but I'm not sure of the details. Perhaps, someone else here knows the rest of the story.

That would be nice. As far as the magazine goes, Steve Blechman did a 180, regarding the direction of his publication. At one point, he swore that no steroid-using bodybuilder would ever grace the pages of his magazine again. Now, at least from an explanation I've seen here on GetBig, MD's editor-in-chief claimed that his family was pressuring him to keep the magazine in an "all-natural" format.

Blechman wanted MD to be "hardcore"; so, anabolics were not only openly discussed, they were virtually celebrated. Heck, at one point, you'd get the feeling that the MD staff itself would practically drop the reader's britches and inject the roids into his rump, if given the chance.
