Title: The Tragic Legend of Greg Plitt
Post by: Brenda Steunbeer on November 02, 2025, 12:18:05 PM
I had never heard of him. But there are lots of topics about the guy on Getbig from 2015 and earlier if you put him name in the search field. It seems Zyzz remained in the fitness news more after his death than Greg?
Both guys seem similar, the shouting, the extreme risk taking behaviour, ADHD manic depressive personalities. Inspirational or tiresome? But he definitely had a good physique
It seems Greg was on 250 fitness magazine covers, well made YT video:

Greg was a stud. So sad and tragic how he died. R.I.P.

Racing a train on foot? Retarded. That's how my dog died but they have the brain power of a 3 year old.

His job seemed like an awesome gig, but now with perspective it doesn’t look as good as a longterm career.

Kind of like an ordinary job actually as you must evolve and do more with your life at some point.

Must have been desperate to stay relevant after all of his success.

Risk taker to a high degree.

Kind of darwinism if you ask me. His risk taking was too high and thus those genes where mot carried on.

Was never my cup of tea to watch. Those motivational talkers/coaches just yap about the same things over and over. Gets old real quick.

Thanks, train. Now we’ll never get to see Kamali vs. Hanky vs. Plitt in a 3-way foot race.

Wow just googled this dude. What an idiot, ran over by a train while filming some sort of energy drink commercial.

I noticed that too, can't figure out why people would stay and listen to some self proclaimed "expert" giving life and career advice. They always choose one of four type of "inspirational" stories. Predictable, boring and annoying. Baffling why people pay lots of money to listen to such bs

If he wasn't too lazy to get a real job he'd probably still be alive.

His final photo on the traintracks:

He had a look comparable to Bob Paris, but taller. Greg apparently was 6 ft 1 or 185 cm

Unrealistic motivator though:

Sure Greg. If Schwarzenegger was 5 ft 5 (165 cm) with bad skin and terrible muscle attachments he not have won any pro bodybuilding contest. Let alone get a movie role or be as succesful as he is. Or have become a high in demand fitness model

But "motivators" have to appeal to as many people as possible in order to make as much money as possible. Hence Greg's statements.

Yes he was great. Yes it was tragic what happened to him.

But…

His death certainly falls under the category of Darwin Awards. Why would he pick active tracks to run on? Did they not check the train schedule? Did they not hear the train approaching or warning sounds? There was no reason for his death to happen. It was completely preventable. He and his whole team are at fault.

Army Ranger or park ranger?

Think he was a real Army Ranger... I doubt he would have got away with it online for so long if he was Stolen Valor

Surprised a Ranger would be dumb enough to get run over by a train.

I believe he was an Officer but i doubt if it was anything to do with his Ranger training.
He just simply was a human being who fucked up.. simple as that

Youd think a RANGER would have better Situational Awareness, especially as an Officer

Without his modeling being as in demand as the internet took over it may have made his earnings more pedestrian with his FT job which Google says didn’t pay much.

In the 00’s he must have banked some decent money though.

With the advent of the smart phone it has led to a lot of unthinkable acts happening as people are looking at screens instead of the real world.

How someone couldn’t know a train was near seems preposterous or it shows him taking risks out of an urge to stay relevant in the newer media forms.

Some friends of mine were up a some hill or mountain in Ibiza near some cliff or something.
One of the guys had something happen with his phone and he fell and died.
Guy had a prestigious job too. The story in the mainstream media in the USA said it had nothing to do with his phone, but that’s not what I heard from FB originally.

I think that one thing we can all agree on is that the poor guy had it all before he really went off the rails.

Trains have been around since the early 19th century. Truly amazing how many people in the 21st century still don't understand how trains roll
