Title: Looking for a gym in Vegas.
Post by: Wiggs on November 08, 2025, 09:40:35 AM
As you know, my family and I moved back to Vegas. I'm settling in, and now is the time to find a gym. There's so many nowadays and I've been paralyzed by analysis.

Has anyone heard of or been to New Tech? It's one Eastern and Serene. It used to be an EOS and before that a Gold's. It's the new "it" bodybuilding gym. When I was at the Olympia, Milos said it would be the new mecca in bodybuilding.  They had equipment on display you could train on, it was unique and felt good.

Anyway, what say you?

If I was you I'd get a day pass at the NewTech, the Torture gym, the Dragons Lair and the Powerhouse (and maybe some others I've never heared of) and then make a conscious decision which one fit's you the most. Pretty simple :)

Too many people at that place for me. Seems like the guy is just bumping into people. Fuck all that noise. So many people on the gym trend these days it’s fucking annoying.

Go to a local small one or what about that Golds on Sahara that the fridge used to train at/haunt?

Don’t go to Dragons Lair. Very important please don’t support any influencer gyms.

I hate all those influencer gyms with a passion. So many popping up filled with tool bags walking around. Can’t wait until all file chapter 11

Just work out at Gold's Gym. All the stuff you need plus you can see celebrities and pro bodybuilders.

Yeah, it's gettin' a lil exhausting when you have to navigate your way in the gym through all those douzens of tripods and selfie-sticks

Newtech is nice and new with some equipment none of the other gyms have. Parking sucks there but it’s nice. The newest Fitclub is just down the road too. Right across the street from the LVAC. It’s a great gym too. It’s a bit younger crowd and has some really hot girls there. There is a lot of people taking pics and videos at both those of though, but that only bothers bitter old men.
Cult Fitness is right up Eastern almost in Anthem. Really nice inside and has awesome equipment. It the smallest of the three in this area. Sergio Jr is there a lot and a lot of bikini and fitness girls are there.
Dragons Lair is also here on the south side but it’s small and overpriced imo. Nice equipment though.
They’re also opening 3 new Crunch Fitness here too. The closest one on the south side is going to be at the old 24hr Fitness on Pecos and Wigwam. The other one is gonna be on East Lake Mead. And the last one on the west side.

What made you leave FL? Also how is the cost in FL vs Las Vegas (housing/etc)? Is work hard to find in LV?

My family is still in LV.  Now that I'm married with a toddler and we want one more, we should be surrounded by family so our children grow up with family and close friends. I enjoyed my 7.5 years there, but it's time to put my selfishness aside and think of the greater good.  Rent is cheaper in Vegas. Food is cheaper in Florida. Gas is cheaper in Florida. Car insurance is cheaper in Vegas. Yes, work is hard to find in Vegas, but that's not something I have to worry about.

what makes the old men bitter?

The younger generations, fucking off, admiring themselves, recording and taking pictures vs. just focusing on lifting and pulling.

Yay I figured that’s what he was saying. I do find it annoying the amount of time people spend setting up tripods to deadlift 400 pounds, every week, when it’s busy but I unfortunately understand wanting to record “best” lifts.

What I really can’t stand is the guys who play their music from their phone or a speaker. If you don’t like what the gym is playing buy earphones.

We’ve created a generation of  self absorbed and entitled goofs.

The younger generations, fucking off, admiring themselves, recording and taking pictures vs. just focusing on lifting and pulling.

Playing off what I said above, most of what they’re recording is useless. In 39 years they’ll be pulling up their YouTube channel to prove their outlandish strength claims aren’t true.

Fit Club LV is my favorite. Sign against filling your whole workout and being a queen. Only been to the original location. I find the atmosphere at the gyms in Vegas very dependent on the time of day you go.

Well, it’s always the old guys who complain the most. Yet they always seem to  go to the gyms where it happens the most. Almost all the gyms  in Vegas has people filming. Personal trainers here do it all the time during training sessions with clients. The clients love it.

Basically the older guys don’t seem to realize they’re the minority in this issue. And they don’t understand that the gyms love it. They want everyone to see their gym and want to train at it. Especially here in Vegas. Jay cutler always says right away what gym he’s at when he films. Several of the gyms even have photo areas all over them. The influencers and competitors do most of the marketing for them in some cases.

I think the bigger issue is that gyms are filled with more younger people. And certainly there’s a lot more women in the gyms than ever before. And with more women training, the gyms have changed. There’s zero hardcore gyms here now. We know what Vegas gyms were like 20-25 yrs ago. Now theirs zero market for a hardcore/meathead gym.

Just buy weights and lift at home.

That's right, with minimal equipment and without doping from the start (80's), I am extremely muscular.

Not like their used be. The Lift Factory on West Cheyenne would be the closest to a hardcore gym. But that’s nowhere close to where you live now. You can also try Torture gym and Strength Culture but they’re not hardcore like you would remember. You could also try Smash Iron Fitness as well, that gym has powerlifting equipment as well. Stan Efferding has a gym on East Windmill but it’s really small and expensive.

THANKS FOR SUCH WONDERFUL INSIGHT ON THIS. I GUESS EVERYONE IS WRONG! OH, EXCEPT FOR YOU AND THE INFLUENCERS WHO FILM! I GUESS WE'RE BEING UNREASONABLE FOR WANTING TO GO TO THE GYM AND NOT TRIP OVER A WORTHLESS TRIPOD. MANY THANKS FOR PROVIDING YOUR INVALUABLE  "FLY ON THE WALL" PERSPECTIVE OF THE FILMING STUDIO GYMS OF LAS VEGAS!!

People who film are the minority. They're nothing but pests. Nothing worse than when the gym is busy and these idiots show up with their film crews, lights, and multiple tripods. Then they begin taping off areas and kicking members off benches because it's going to be used in the video.

No one admires them. Gyms don't need marketing from these influencers. So what about the perverts who got caught filming people on the toilets and nude in the showers? Sounds like you endorse that and consider it part of the gym's marketing as well?

I've seen members kick tripods across the floor and drop weights on people's phones as they record their stupid videos. I've seen people get in fights with people filming their videos. And each time, I've seen the management kick out the people who are filming. Gyms are not film studios.

No the clients do not "love it" when trainers record them. So where are all these videos of the clients who you claim love being filmed? I've never once read a client's testimonial where they raved about how incredible it was to be filmed and how their life changed for the better because of the filming.

Calm down Grandpa. Filming in the gym is absolutely nothing like what you described. No one carries a tripod around in the gyms. Most of the time you won’t even notice people filming. No one ever takes over areas of the gyms to film either. You’re clueless and have no idea what you’re talking about. Just another rant from a jealous old man.

Filming in the gym is 1000% like I described.

Numerous times I've been sitting on a bench and have had someone set up a tripod right next to me to film their content.

I've been at other gyms where tripods are set up in the middle of the gym floor, set up on treadmills rendering them not able to be used, or set up in the locker room filming people showering, posing, or on the toilet.

I've seen groups of people arrive together and it's their film crew ready to set up their mobile filming studio right in the middle of the evening gym time. They will park right in front of the main entrance to the gym in their car displaying their IG name or YouTube channel name on the car thus forcing other people to walk through the bushes under the windows just to get inside the gym. They will then start carrying in white boards on stands, tripods, large lights, boxes of clothing, backdrop curtains, fake weight plates, boxes of protein bars, and costumes and leave all this junk right smack in the middle of the gym forcing people to have to step over this stuff just to get to the dumbell rack or squat racks.

I've witnessed these people at other gyms take over the turf areas when filming skits and handstand balancing acts on dumbells and barbells.

I also love how you viewed my correct observations and legitimate complaints as hate and resorted to ad hominem attacks.

Gym tripods should be broken into pieces and tossed in a dumpster.

Yes there are. Just pick any gym that looks good to you. But stay away from Dragon's Lair. Don't listen to Sway. I think he probably spends so much time focused on people filming at the gym and watching videos on his phone that he gets distracted during his workout.

38 returns can correct this if Im wrong but Im sure Nathan de Ashas gym had a sign up, if you want to film its £50

Doesnt look the bad guy by banning filming but makes it out of reach of most people

What about Hide’s powerhouse gym?

His gym is nice and has some equipment that others don’t. It’s a smaller gym that kinda gets over looked since there’s so many other gyms. It’s hardcore but only in the sense that most of the people there are serious trainers or competitors. He markets his gym different than other places, a lot of asian tourists go there and female competitors. A lot of female bbers trained there but a lot of them are moving to Newtech gym.
Hide is super cool and will talk to you if need help or have any questions. Iris gets a lot of hate but she’s really nice and is there all the time too.

Iris and other members couldn’t stand how Milos would take over several pieces of equipment at a time to do his giant sets. He would be using 3-4 things at the same time and didn’t give a shit about anyone else. It felt like he was taking over the gym.
Milos is not the nicest guy when you ask him to do something and can be very disrespectful. Lots of rumors here that he’s not allowed to even train people at certain gyms because of his attitude. He’s not thought of well here in Vegas. He’s running out of people to scam and hustle here, most of the local pros and ranked competitors won’t even fuck with him anymore, even for free.
