Got to admit i like low Inclines much better
-
Why would incline presses be any safer than flat benches? Makes no sense.
Muscles can tear from any exercise that put excessive strain on the connective tissue.
Using steroids weakens connective tissues.
Combine that with how the muscle strengthens out of proportion to the connective tissue.
Then when someone uses limit poundages the house of cards collapses.

Inclines are /or feel better for me ..feels a much better path for the Bar. most do tear a pec on flat presses

Bob is likely correct if he's referring to steroid users. Since his world is entirely drug use it is logical.
For natties there is little risk from doing bench presses.

People doing flat bench greatly outnumber those doing inclines so it's much more likely from a numbers standpoint to tear a pec doing them.
Also people try to use maximum weights doing flats since it is a competitive thing.

I believe the reason Bob feels this way is because he's dimwitted.
For some people, bench press feels fine. And if they want to do each week, then that's what they should do.
If you don't like doing bench, then don't do it.
If your mechanics are sound, if your tendons can handle it, and if you feel a good connection when doing it, then keep doing it. If your shoulder hurts after benching, you need to investigate your form and determine if you may have issues that need fixing.
If Bob feels crappy when he benches, it's possible he has muscle issues/form that he should correct.

how do you feel about the flat "Gironda" press to neck ?
I do not think that the % of lifters matters, it´s Physiological
-
the pecks are a downward pressing muscle, inclines are useless

but the Press to neck?

I think it's ok to do provided you acclimate to it.
If you lack flexibility then you can injure yourself.
It's also a move you would not use limit poundages with.
Similar to doing behind the neck presses.

What exercise do most people attempt heavy weight?

yes flat press.. as mentioned but for me it´s about reps & feeling the muscle, hence why i asked about the Gironda press to neck
I am not totally against Bench press as i like/liked to do DB flat presses over Barbells.
Maybe my age now.. stopping sagging pecs :D

Is this how you’ve always trained?
I like to press to neck as well but that’s not an exercise I would go heavy with.

I like Gironda presses and did those for years and they do seem to "lift" the pecs up. I noticed that they did work my shoulders more than regular benches but I also feel a big workout in my shoulders when doing inclines. Never any shoulder injuries or whatever with Gironda's and they do work. What's funny is that if you do them the way Gironda said (legs crossed up off the bench and wide grip), you'll see better results which makes no sense to me. Also and related, doing dips the way Gironda said (chin on chest, knees/legs in front of you) works your chest %100 better than doing regular dips which, again, makes no sense to me.

I fell in love with parallel dips because of the Army..i liked them even doing Tricep dips off my bed in my room. I have experimented with Declines ..etc but in recent years i prefer Incline work. This is actually strange as i had a prolapsed disc in my neck some years ago. C6/C7 & my right hand & tricep were weakened but..i can now close a decent grip strength with grippers
Time is a healer :)

He was a Master at his trade but i do not like the hands turned in position on his dips ..at least how Larry Scott did them
