Iconic holiday movies should never have their crucial scenes altered. I hope they didn't take out the part where he says Yippie Ki Yay.

Based on what I read, broadcasting the abridged version of It's A Wonderful Life avoids having to get a license from Paramount to show the entire film with the Pottersville scenes intact. This has nothing to do with censorship or 'awakeness'.

I recently watched "The Ruins", which had a happy ending. The film was wonderfully creepy as is. STUPID. :P

What could possibly be seen as needed to be removed, is it the suicide angle?

Yep.

Sure, it might be seen this way, particularly to the uninformed, but this is not the reason the sequence was omitted. This abridged version of "It's a Wonderful Life" has been aired for years on TV after the film entered the public domain. The full version of the movie with the "Pottersville" sequence intact is steamed for Prime members. This original version of the movie on Amazon is about 30 minutes longer and is add free.
