I spoke to a physio I know who was at that shoot and he thought Dorian still had fat and water on his low back when he turned around , when he flexed it was muscle that was hanging just on his low lat on his left side

You could see it in the video a tad still credibly he literally had slabs of beef hanging off his lats on every corner very unbelievably thick and his midsection had a little bit too as well but when he flex everything in that video, everything rocked right up pretty incredible for being few weeks out

Agreed. I've heard from people who saw him in person and said pictures did not do him justice. He deserved many of his wins. Too bad he had that bicep injury...

In person, he is unimaginable. Better in person than Ronnie. Especially off season.

yates could b considered the masculine ideal.. in the same way that paris could b considered the aesthetic ideal, and haney the athletic ideal.
those three representative forms more or less encapsulate the best of bodybuilding imo.. with yates on top.

I wasn’t a big fan of Dorian back in the days, but now I can see why he was insane especially in 93. Cormier, levrone, wheeler , jay, have spoken about his dominance and in seeing him in person

he once told me that he went down to treat Dorian at his house, he was sat chatting and Dorian got up and left the room, a few minutes later Cosgrove said to Debbie, "wheres Dorian" she said "oh hes gone to bed , he always has a couple of hours sleep at this time"
Cosgrove had to sit there and wait for him before treating him.
Personally I would have got up and told Debbie to tell Dorian to go fuck himself.

Yes, saw him guest post at 305lbs.
He didn't even look like a real person.

I saw Yates guest pose a few weeks after the 1992 Olympia.
In 1992, he won, but he overdieted and was about 240lbs maybe less.
So, two weeks later, he basically had filled out but was still extremely lean. He must have been 265.
People were GOBSMACKED… He back was so thick it was scary. He still had striations throughout his lower back and lats. The calves were otherworldly. Triceps outstanding.
This was pre biceps tear also.
