Why do people need 8 billion machines? The basics build muscle, now theres 17 machines to emulate 1 movement. Do squats, rows, deads etc. Ridiculous
-
People love new gadgets.
-
Some machines are great and have their place, but nothing beats the good old pig iron !!
-
I think the next generation of equipment will actually being giving motorized support to the movement.
These fat fucking kids on these e-bikes aren’t going to want to actually lift these weights themselves if they don’t have to.

There's a seated shoulder press machine in one of the gyms I use & every Twink & his dog
Is queueing up to use it as they can stack 80-100kg aside on it ::)
They look bewildered when I ask them if they squat that much.
Fucking Bunch of Retarded Khvnts. 🤬🤬🤬

If they do happen to Squat it`s a quarter rep or less with way too much weight in the Smith Machine, back waving like a flag in the wind, and barely bending their knees..........fags!! :D

Very true - only they've learnt not to come into the leg room when I'm squatting as I make
Them do full squats with a fraction of their original weight .

Machines usually are safer and better suited for people with joint injuries for example.
Free weights often also are problematic for gyms as idiot customers leave them lying around everywhere instead of putting them back in / on the racks

WTF is tattooed on his arm, the villain Scorpio from Dirty Harry or Edgar Allan Poe?

What's weird is that some machines are head and shoulders above the rest:
- Nautilus pullover
- Nautilus Nitro bicep curl
- Hammer wide chest press
- Any kind of tricep extension as in the pic
- Feel free to add to this list.
And some machines are total dogshit, e.g. every "Hoist" machine and every overhead tricep extension machine.
Gyms like Bev's are great because they have every good machine and few bad ones.
Most gyms fall for gimmicks and buy useless shit, though, and often don't have any of the great machines.

Old School Machines here , maybe Joe swift knows this Gym

From a business perspective, the more machines a gym has, the better. I have been training in different and more expensive gyms for the past weeks, I have a membership that lets me access multiple gyms for a set price, with more access available if you pay more. I've noticed that most people use machines now, even muscular dudes or bodybuilders, they all seem to only hit machines. I mean, the more options the better, but I would not pay more just because of some levitating row machine. Take legs, for example, I don’t remember ever seeing or trying a machine that could substitute for squats or lunges, I always end up doing them anyway. By the way, most gyms in Brazil lack the basics. Most don’t have good squat racks, different bars, or heavier dumbbells, but they do have very expensive machines. Free weights simply don't attract new members.

I'm always amazed how many gyms have multiple leg extension machines all of which suck.

I agree, older leg extensions are usually heavier and better. Newer leg presses all seem to suck as well, I can't get a full range of motion on them.

My gym used to be awesome but fuck knows what kind of equipment lease the owner has signed recently. There's so much shit in there you can't move now. We don't need four flat bench machines. We don't need 5 different tricep extension machines....the only good thing that was brought in was a pullover.
And don't get me started on them replacing the chinning and dip stations with Hyrox equipment that nobody has touched since it came in.
-
All pec decs should be banned.

The Sharper Image has a fantastic workout equipment line but only for the most experienced trainers.

Most gyms are social gathering spots. Building muscle is the byproduct for some.
The more machines the more places people can sit and text from.

Never do squats, rows, deads.. if you want to preserve your integrity and not be
a vegetable when you become old.
Only machine and most of them are not properly engineered.
So be selective.

How old is old? I'm over 50 and I did all of those exercises.

Retards sitting on their arse, texting and doing "sets" of machine presses.
A retarded crew.
Machines can have a place (finishers/accessories) anyone doing all machines is a tard. Weak...

60 years old and still do em all., would rather be dead than not do heavy compound movements

A well made machine is a thing of beaty and joy. Some of the best pieces are decades old. A dream for a gym head would be being able to select every little piece in your gym. I feel a machine is neither better or worse than "free weights," it's all on a case by case basis. What's a free weight exercise anyway? Is a pulldown or low pulley cable row free weights or machines? I doubt a free weight calf raise is generally better than calf machines, the opposite is probably more true. "The more stability you can have the more muscle engagement you can get." A chest supported row is probably better than a regular t-bar row.

Free weights can never match Basile's bicep supinator.
