Post by: walkerblocker on April 26, 2026, 05:34:00 PM
2 nogs ran the London marathon under 2 hours. Like fuk, thats insane, 13 mph for 2 hours. How is that even possible? I guess running away from lions and tigers makes you fast as fuck, but man thats some kind of pace

The second-place guy in this race actually also ran under 2:00, I read that it was his first marathon.

A Hebress also set the women's record.

Maybe the course was short?

I didn't want to be a hater and say the same thing, but it does seem a bit surprising that multiple people broke the world record by such a large margin!  They're claiming it was simply because there was virtually perfect weather for a marathon, as well as having a steady wind at their back.

Wouldn't that reduce the force applied to the ground?

I believe in addition to the shoes there is a new supp "bi-carb" that is all the rage in "endurance sports" these days.

and as such use more energy trying to move forward

Softer the shoe more energy expended while running
Imagine running on slinkies

That's impressively quick. I drive to visit a relative about 30 miles away every now and then, and it usually takes me around 45 minutes with all the traffic lights and speed limits. This guy covered nearly the same distance in about 2.6 times that time.
