Lou Ferrigno's journey to win the Masters Mr. Olympia after a 19 year retirement. Arnold of course is interviewed...and he discusses the folks who enter the Mr. Olympia who don't belong there on stage. He recommended there should have been "The Losers Contest" for them.

Standing on fake calves. It was a travesty that they let him compete at all.
Before the 92 Olympia Ferrigno was looking insane though, I can imagine he looked unreal in the gym.

Chris Aceto said that he saw Lou at the gym roughly
8 weeks out in 1992. Aceto said that if Lou had stepped onstage looking like that.... he would’ve won the show. Chris Aceto said that the combination of Lou’s size and Lou’s height was something that he had never seen before, in-person.

Do you think Arnold hated Lou all along and got a sick pleasure out of him losing and getting frustrated about not winning? And could have been calling the shots behind the scenes to ensure he never won to ensure he always had entertainment?

Yeah. I watched some videos about Arnold’s warped psychology. Very disturbing.
Franco was Arnold’s friend, but Franco was not like Arnold. Franco didn’t enjoy seeing people lose. Nor would Franco seek to sabotage someone. I once read that Franco’s wife didn’t like Arnold. Arnold said it himself; he had no problem giving Franco bad advice. In front of the world, Arnold said that Franco was a child.

Bodybuilding could have been elevated if Arnold actually said NICE THINGS about people.
What good did it do to insult Vince Gironda’s gym on camera?
-
Vince’s is for sissies, so I make sure that I go there at least twice a day

There was no mention of Wag Bennett or Paul Graham in Pumping Iron. If that information had been included in the film, people would’ve been repulsed. Especially after Arnold said that getting a “pump” at the gym was similar to “cumming”
I would not be surprised is Arnold tried to be “taken in” by Vince Gironda. Vince was not a schmoe. So Arnold settled for Paul Graham.
Arnold met Paul Graham at Vince’s Gym.

Sheet metal fabrication is actually quite interesting.

And Lou was actually the star of the movie. Lou had the awesome training footage. His father had the best quotes. Without the Ferrigno’s, the highlight of the documentary would’ve been Mike Katz’s missing t-shirt and Franco picking up the car.
Arnold’s best moments were when he was helping the short blonde guy with his posing. Also when Arnold was encouraging Ed Corney during his set of squats, and then sitting with Lou at the very end of the movie.
