What is our take on this situation? When these guys (and gals) in their advanced ages have these medical situations and cannot serve for weeks or months, should they step down and vacate?
This supports max age limits IMO. These people should not be making decisions that impact our future.

Should step down.

I hope Massie runs and takes his seat.

Would be quite the twist.

Mitch is in great shape and should still be when he's 100.

Happens all the time. Feinstein stayed in office until she was dead. We did something similar with Patsy Mink in Hawaii. I think she likely dead (on life support) but they didn't pull the plug until some deadline passed that would have affected appointing her successor.

Maybe, but will he still be on a ventilator and probably in an induced coma?

Me too. But I think when they finally turn up Mitch's corpse, the Governor (Beshear) appoints an interim Senator. Can you or anyone confirm this is accurate? I want Gov. Beshear to appoint Massie if that is the case.

Was fine until his TDS kicked in. Since then it’s vibes of John McCain. He’ll be more known for trying to derail Trumps agenda over the last 10 years than anything in his 1000 years on this planet

We need max age limits. I'd say 70, anything older is incapable of making rational decisions.

I know lots of people in their 70s or older who are smart, rational, experienced, etc. I actually think older people are more valuable overall given their life experience. There really is no substitute for the kind of experience, mistakes, life-learning, etc. that comes with age. I really wish I had the experience and understanding I have to today back when I was in my 20s.
Rather an some arbitrary age limit, I think we should just have competence exams.

The competence exams should be run before every term with the results being public. I do think they would find a way to make them racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, liberalphobic once the results started coming out. I think a solid, no dispute, stopping point is the best way to go, doesn't leave anything open to interpretation.

Seventy seems like a reasonable mandatory age limit for elected government officials to me too.
Since all elected officials who reach the minimum salary threshold pay into SS and Medicare. To be consistent, age limits could be consistent with the age when they become eligible to collect SS and Medicare full benefits which is currently 67 years.
Under U.S. federal and state laws, job age limits are generally prohibited for applicants or employees who are 40 or older, with some exceptions having mandatory age requirements.

I guess his Chinese wife does not care much about him. She just came back from China while he was in the hospital.

I doubt it. The leftist media is airing this story out while they tried to hide Bidens issues.

Is Mitch still dead?

You don't know what a commie is retard.
Keeping Mitch out of sight while he is brain dead is probably just a test run for how the MAGAtards react when it's Trumpy's turn.

I agree that it probably won't unless Mitch McConnell has passed and that is what is being covered up because the GOP doesn't want to lose his vote. The deadline for a special election to replace him is August 3, 2026. It is unclear what the process would be after the deadline. I believe Kentucky law does not allow for the Governor appointing his replacement.

If he passed away and they are hiding it, that would be huge.

Today Mitch McConnell released a statement regarding his health condition to his constituents along with a photo of himself and his wife in which he dressed in street clothes and sitting in what looked like a hospital style chair. Supposedly, he has moved from hospital care to a rehabilitation center. This is pretty common for people whose health is still too fragile for them to go home. My experience with both my mom and later my wife going to rehab centers is that they were released to come home as soon as they were deemed healthy enough to do so. It also depended on what medical coverage allows for. Medicare has specific requirements. Generally speaking, the shorter the stay the better.

Don't worry. Lindsey was like when the restaurant sends you a free appetizer because the entree is taking too long.

Is that the photoshop where he is wearing jeans and his shirt in a hospital bed while holding the newspaper so you can clearly see the date? Nobody is dressed like that unless you're ready to leave the hospital.

Mitch is not an ordinary plebeian.
He gets only the best treatment and can stay as long as he wants and eat as much ice cream as he wants.
plebeian /plĭ-bē′ən/
adjective
Of or relating to the common people of ancient Rome.
"a plebeian magistrate."
Of, belonging to, or characteristic of commoners. Unrefined or coarse in nature or manner; common or vulgar.

When I saw the headline about Senator Lindsey Graham passing away, my brain read "Mitch McConnell." It took a bit for it to register that it was actually Graham and not McConnell.
