Title: Prioritization
Post by: canesfan on May 19, 2006, 01:12:35 PM
I am training to prioritize and add more mass to arms, delts, traps and calves. I am curious to know if anyone has any thoughts on how to train chest, back and legs so that I maintain the current size or improve quality but still have enough energy and recovery for adding some mass to the bodyparts I want to improve. I am 5'10 235-240 at 8% right now, been training for 15 years and would like to stay around there but still improve arms, delts, traps and calves.

you could try to cut back a little on the other bodyparts, or do something backwards to shock them like do tris hard first in a workout before you do chest or bi's before back. the standard add a extra day to your plan to cover arms and delts asside from your normal pattern.or maybe break up you target so that for 3 weeks you really concentrait on tri's along with your normal workloan then move to bi's and delts and calves so you can really add your effort to one thing at a time.good luck.

Somthin simple would be to add a few sets or tri/front delts with chest, bis/ rear delts with back........ you get my point. If you want to back off the other parts a little i would reccomend just doing higher reps (12-15) to refine what you already have (in terms of size) while prioritzing  other parts for growth :)

Think about this....

What helps build muscle?
Test
What exercises produce the largest amounts of test?

ok here with the obvious but you probally do already after hearing your current size.   u always do the big movments for those parts first?. u could also do all compound movments for those muscles groups.   heres soemthing ive been doing latly i always do a cool down set of 15 for each bodypart after my workouts so i pick a exersize i dont normally do for that bodypart so its a bonus for that and doesnt add anymore sets made a diffrance to me atleast...

Change some of your excercises around too.  Especially if you have been doing any basic movements.  Throw in some cable movements to target specific areas a little differently.  Ive mixed in incline flyes with cables in place of dumbells at times and its definatlly helped bring out my outer pecs.  Same with shoulders try bent over laterals with cables.
