Title: personal trainer?
Post by: jonmatdav on May 20, 2006, 03:24:01 PM
I'm looking for a good personal trainer in New York City. I've gotten to the point where in spite of all my reading and research, I never seem to make any progress. I struggle with consistency and am also the type who gets easily distracted by fad diets/workouts -- Ive come to realise that until/unless I get a true professional to sit down with me and figure out a solid diet & workout plan, I'm going to be running in circles for the foreseeable future.

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a very knowledgeable personal trainer in NYC, particularly someone who can design a practical, realistic diet for someone (me) who can't cook -- and who preferably has an awesome body to prove that he knows what he's talking about. I also am already a member of a gym near my office and for reasons of location and timings, am not able to join another gym. I'd ideally like someone who could do everything short of actually working out with me -- I have friends who can spot me and see that I'm doing the exercises correctly. I tried a trainer at my gym but was very disappointed; the guy was skinny as a rail and not professional at all.

Thanks in advance to any info you can pass my way! Cheers...

Well dude good luck.  You can check at various gyms and also on the net.  Make sure they are ceritifed!  Many are not.  Also no matter how good the trainer is, it will not work unless you have the inner desire and intensity. If you are one of those people who might go to the gym on Monday but then want to go hang out with friends after work or instead of the gym. Then forget about serious training until you have you priorities in line.

And why would you take a trainer that is"skinny". You need to research on your own first and know nutrition, supplements, and the correct formulas for building muscle.  Id be interested in seeing your current routine and nutritional habits.?  Id probably be able to tell you right off why your not gaining.

one way or the other... the motivation to train must come from within
