has anyone seen this one, i was flipping through the new MD yesterday and it has Frank McGrath sitting on a cot in his 100 dollar a month studio apartment and there's a girl in her bra and panties lying with her back to him all frustrated and the article is talking about how selfish a bodybuilder's life is and how he warned her that it's all about him and the "sport" hahahaha, gimme a break.

LOL. Gee, what can ya say. If the fictional guy in the ad is more interested in working out than having some of that, then I'd say that's indicative of some deeper psychological pathology going on. You have to question the wisdom of marketing your product to such a small niche (not to mention mentally deranged) demographic.

Women look at financial success, over and above all else, here in LA. It may be different elsewhere in the States.

The most ridiculous thing about this ad, along with virtually all of the other ones from Animal (Universal), is that being a selfish knuclehead somehow equates to being a "hardcore" bodybuilder.
Maybe someone should remind these folks about Bill Pearl. This guy used to wake up as early as 3 a.m. to hit the iron. With his training out of the way, he was able to work, run a gym, and TAKE CARE OF HIS FAMILY (wife and kids).
Did I mention that Bill Pearl won the NABBA Mr. Universe, which at that time was the most prestigious title in bodybuilding, FOUR TIMES. Yet, he didn't ignore his wife or foolishly spend his rent/mortgage money on supplements.
Oh, there's that other guy, a big black fellow. Some people called him "Awesome" or something like that.......OOOOHHHH!!! That would be Lee Haney!! All he did was win the AAU Mr. America, the NPC Nationals, the Mr. Universe, and EIGHT Mr. Olympia titles.
Last time I checked, he's been married for over two decades. He even missed watching Ronnie Coleman tie his record to be with his son, as he started his first year of college. He also runs a ranch to help young children out.
Yeah, being selfish is key to being a "hardcore" bodybuilder. ::)

To a degree, you're right. I used to think the same way when I was in college 10 years ago. But, I realized something: These types of women are the head cases. These are the women that have been psychologically and/or physically abused in their younger years. They've become so used to being treated like garbage that they think being treated like a human being is a novelty. To them, being treated right means only hitting them once a month or cheating on them with someone they don't know. They're messed up, like the "Jenny" character in the movie, Forrest Gump.
I was briefly (and I stress BRIEFLY) involved with such a girl. This woman always thought I was going to see another girl, even though we were never officially a couple. She made a scene about that in front of my house and didn't believe I was going to play softball, even though I was my softball uniform. She didn't even believe me, when my best friend, who played for a different team (and helped set up the field) showed up in his uniform, with the balls, bats, bases, chalk, and gloves in the back of his truck.
These kinds of women are the only ones who would put up with a buffoon-type bodybuilder, such as the one portrayed in the Animal ads (by Frank McGrath, I think). Anyone woman with a legitimate amount of self-esteem would have told him to stick his protein powder, Aminal Cuts, etc. where the sun don't shine.

i remember when i was really young and my friends father drove a van service. he posted his sign on his car. the sign was posted crocked, just so people would look and be "ha, they are so dumb, the signs slanted" meanwhile, the company name would stick in the memory, even if it was only for the brief time period.
its the same reason the muscle tech ad's are as crazy as they are. just the pages alone crack me up, but it does the job. the cell tech name is household. and the reality is, someone is going to give it a shot just because they keep hearing the name.
the point is to get people talking about the company, and in that they have done their job.

As long as you're involved with the "Jenny" types, that will often be the case. Some of these women will eventually come to their senses. The question simply is how many times will they get burned (literally and figuratively) before that happens.
If what you say were completely true, I wouldn't be married now, and an adorable little toddler would not be tearing my house to shreds, as we speak.
It goes back to what I've said before. Being a self-centered jerk is hardly a pre-requisite for being a succesful bodybuilder, which is why I find the Animal ads extremely ridiculous. And, bodybuilding should be an enjoyable thing; it certainly is to me. I've seen people getting root canals with better attitudes than the one McGrath is portraying in those pics.

I think you misunderstood where I was coming from. I was never trying to convey that any porn star had a better chance than the financially broke bodybuilder (conveyed by McGrath) in the ad.
The focus of this discussion never had anything to do with me. It had to do with the THEME of the Animal Pak marketing campaign.
My point was that women (especially in LA) are mainly concerned with a man's financial status and well-being far more so than where he might place at the next NPC show.
That being said many women are not even concerned with how, or where, a man may have made his money. Just has long as he has it.

I think you misunderstood where I was coming from. I was never trying to convey that any porn star had a better chance than the financially broke bodybuilder (conveyed by McGrath) in the ad.
The focus of this discussion never had anything to do with me. It had to do with the THEME of the Animal Pak marketing campaign.
My point was that women (especially in LA) are mainly concerned with a man's financial status and well-being far more so than where he might place at the next NPC show.
That being said many women are not even concerned with how, or where, a man may have made his money. Just has long as he has it.

...yep, I did misunderstand the original statement....and not to hijack the thread, but since you HAVE been on both sides, so... the question, if you're willing to answer it is....Who gets more legit pussy (ie, not on the set).....an NPC competitor (who may or may not be broke) or a male pornstar (again, may or may not be broke)...you might be the ONLY guy on EARTH who could legitimately answer that question, by the way.

The gist of these silly Animal (Universal) ads is that it takes this type of boorish, fiscally irresponsible, and utterly stupid behavior to be a champion bodybuilder. That is completely ridiculous.
Again, I refer you to the examples of 4-Time Mr. Universe, Bill Pearl, and 8-time Mr. Olympia, Lee Haney.
They didn't treat their loved ones like garbage, live in a rat-shack, or make bone-headed financial decisions all for the sake of bodybuilding.
Since when did squalor and selfishness equate to desire and dedication?

Maybe he (the guy in the ad) just tried to tap the ass and found out it was a guy. Unlike someone else, he decided to keep his dignity and go to the gym

If some guys choose (via anabolics) to get to a lean 260lbs over-and-above investing in their financial future (or paying the rent) ....then yes, most women are going to view those guys as "losers".
Women look at financial success, over and above all else, here in LA. It may be different elsewhere in the States.
If, however, you can drive a new SL 500, have financial investments AND weigh in at a lean 260lbs you may have a better shot?

Maybe the ad is saying, "even this big muscular(due to large animal pak consumption) looser can get hot p*ssy when ever HE wants or is in the mood" "Being big will get you laid"
Sex is the seller. Lots of the teens and young guys who this stuff is marketed at are definatly wanting sex, so they gear up on Universal products to get some....cause the guy in the ad is. Maybe they dont see it right away looking at the ad but the seed is planted.
