Post by: Ron on May 26, 2006, 12:17:33 AM
Well - here are some questions with King Kamali. Would like to know what you think, and please keep the discussion without flaming or malicious banter. Also there are some other pics from King a few weeks out.  As usual, any mistakes, email me...

Why are people complaining that your stomach is too big?

First of all, people are not complaining. The only people that I see are complaining are a few ass clowns on Getbig and Shawn Ray. My stomach was not distended at all - zero distention.

What happened with the incident with George Farah on stage at the New York Pro?

I will use a line from the move 'Dragon - The Bruce Lee'. If you touch me, I am going to touch you back. And George shoved my arm during the front double biceps shot, and he also said something, which I am not going to repeat, which was disrespectful to me, and I sort of put him in his place. I don't take shit from anybody, especially when I am competing on stage.

Someone needs to carry a mirror next to him when he's onstage next time.

Now, you made a comment on the boards that you are going to give Shawn Ray some harsh words and comments? What do you want to say?

I am going to say what I have to say on Pro Bodybuilding Weekly Radio show, because I promised Bob Cicherillo I would wait, but I can tell you this, after I go on the radio show, Shawn Ray will never talk about me again. And I have physical proof on my statements. And I am not going to tell you right now, so don't keep asking me. Just wait a few weeks.

WIll this happen?  Will King really destroy Shawn in the same manner that Shawn's been slowly tearing him down here for the last 2 years?   Shawn has taken, honestly, hundreds if not thousands of shots at king in the last 2 years.  Will king publish that infamous Dina text message that Barb got the snapshot of on her own phone? Time will tell...

Looks like King peaked too soon.  Trying to sit that lean for a month is a recipe for a dead metabolism and shrivled fores/calves.  I think it was a young getbig member named Ron Avidan that asked aloud if King could maintain his peak for 3 weeks. I guess we see the answer now.

"I didn't say anything to anyone or respond to the people on the boards. I didn't want to go out there and say 'I was going to win this, and I am going to win that". I didn't say any of that. All I wanted was to be better than I was before, and that is exactly what I did."

Can't argue with that...

Whether you love him or hate him....best point ever..

Are you saying that all fans have to go on stage?

No, not at all, but if you are going to talk crap, at least understand what it takes. It takes competing on stage to understand the sacrifices and the suffering and what it takes to become a professional bodybuilder. It is extremely hard to become a pro. Some people just don't not understand it. They keep putting all bodybuilders down. Sometimes the worst thing that happened to bodybuilding is the internet boards. The funny thing is none of these guys will ever say these things to the pros if they go to a bodybuilding show or expo. What I am saying is don't malicious put people down because you want to become an internet celebrity on the boards.

I saw King yesterday and believe me...regardless of what everyone thinks about his stomach being distended, which aside from the show pics, it actually isn't. He is massive in person, but after Chad got done with him, his obliques and all muscles around his midsection got HUGE from power lifting. Honestly, just wait til he gets that down....you guys will be surprised.

Okay...Flame and hate on...sorry to have interrupted.

You stole my question:

Can you perform your front double biceps with a vacuum instead of squeezing your abs like you did in the New York Pro?

We are working on that right now, but for this particular show, we had to blow it out because the waistline is not streamlined. But they next time I step on stage, it will be vacuumed?

That's ok, it needed to be asked and he ignored it when I asked.  Great interview!

Yeah. Teh Chad is known as a "trainer" or "nutritionist"... ;)

Let's hope Kamali didn't suffer any permanent damage from the heavy "training" protocol...

Brutal PR crisis for Teh Chad at the moment BTW.

If clients from bodybuilding are of any kind of economical value to Teh Chad, I foresee a huge blow to him when the words gets around that Kamali improved after leaving him.

Well, I'll give him props for being self-critical and objective here.

"...........I am honest with myself to sit back and look at my physique and look at last year's Ironman contest and say 'Oh my god, it that my waistline?" Yes, I was huge, I was the biggest guy in the top five, I was 5 pounds heavier than Gustavo. That doesn't mean that I looked better than Gustavo at all.........."

King, what's with the wedgie on stage at the New York Pro?

Ha, why does Ronnie give himself a wedgie on stage? How many times have you seen Ronnie pull up his trunks? Because he is trying to show his glutes. So if your strong points are your glutes, and they are striated, you try to show them off. And how do you show them off is by bringing attention to them. So that's why I diid it?

dude you have avg smooth glutes, not ronnie colemen glutes!

i wanted to show off my striated glute ??? what the hell is this smuck thinking?

Thats what I've been saying all along but no one seems to want to listen! If you want to bodybuild then train like a bodybuilder......not a freaking powerlifter, just about everyone trains that way and then the people that haven't been training long think thats the way you should train.....it ain't so!!

It is my waist. My waist. There is a big difference. People just don't seem to understand that. Dennis James - his stomach protrudes forward - that is the distention. That is why he gets deducted. My stomach is not big like that. What happens is my waist is wide - and that is due to the style of my training.

I read the interview AFTER I posted my last comment and it comfirmed my last statement......he trains like a POWERLIFTER. If he knew how to train like a bodybuilder he would have a decent chance, he and everyone else who trains like this needs to reprogram their thinking about training this is one of the main factors why these guys are coming in with terrible symmetry!!

Baseless attacks arent permitted only if your a pro.

I doubt if he left Chad for any other reason then....he couldn't afford him anymore, for some of the top guys Chad charges 10% of their winnings, others he charges $5,000 so we know he wasn't charging KK 10% of his winnings.

Chad is fun to pick on, but really, athletes know his reputation.  For King to blame Chad for his current condition seems strange.  You don't hear King Coleman or any of his other clients complaining about their treatment from Chad.  yet King, a man who has never taken responsibility for anything and done more talking than winning in his pro career, can't stop blaming chad.

Yes, chad has arguably hurt a few guys' kidneys.  but it seems strange that ONLY KING has a gut from working with Chad.  Despite being the most massive lean BBer on earth, coleman can control his gut, even with arms twice as big as Kings. Weird.

Well, not to be knit picking, but he didn't exactly blame Chad (unless he said it elsewhere), he said he wanted to change direction since he seemed to go as far as he could with Chad.

As for Coleman, well of course he is well above Kamali as a bodybuilder, but his gut's considerably worse.

Good interview, and hopefully the radio show sizzles. We'll see.  I met King Kamali at the 03 Olympia and even though it was only for a little bit(and I know his job is to be nice in short bursts) he threw me off with his kindness and attention. Anyway Getbig effing rules.  Oh yeah-I look like that picture of "Weed out the weak" that 240 keeps posting. Just thought I should share even though no one asked.

I dont understand kamali, I like the guys work ethic but he must be in a fvcking bubble whens hes talking about how he was the crowd favorite.
Title: Re: Interview with King Kamali 05-23-06

Is it possible to train like a powerlifter and not be boxy or is his problem simply his build?  Ronnoe, JJackson and Branch all train that way and do not have the same problem.  Maybe powerlifting makes the problem worse but it could just be genetics.  People blame genetics for everything else, why not this?

No, I seriously doubt it is possible. You have to remember that the guys you mentioned when they started training all began with doing more bodybuilding movements than powerlifting movements, it's when they started doing more powerlifting is when the symmetry of bodybuilding changed, I'd say about 80% of the pro's are much blockier than when they started. If you look at the pics of Ronnie from the late 90's he looked awesome, small waist and all, now when you see him or just about anyone else, you can see that obliques are much thicker along with the serratus and gives a wide waist appearance!

Thanks, because I love to deadlift but my waist got thicker, maybe because my lower back got thicker but I do not want that look.  Should I just do it less often?  I naturally have a good back so I really don't need it but I love to pull the weight.

How often are you doing deads now?
Title: Re: TAMALI OWNED THE NEW YORK CROWED!

Kamali could have won some new fans by admitting he didn't look that great.  Instead, in that new Ron interview, he gives arguments why he definitely was 4th or 5th, and not 6th.  Many say 6th was a gift for him.

I was never planing to ever go down to your level with all of the crap you have said and still saying about me on your website in the past 4 years or so! This time with all do respect you are full of a shit. You shoved me at the pre judging for no reason. Maybe your friends are telling you how great you look it's gotting into your head! King, sorry my friend but you're putting words in my mouth and you're claiming on an open board that I have said some disrespectful things? You are a liar. You should stay put and be happy with the gift that you received! I will see you in Texas my delusional friend. Peace,
George Farah

Kamali bought 63 tickets to the show!!  He obviously had a crew to impress.  Te rest of us were just there for background noise! Farah is a class act - Kamali is not.  Who pushed whom?

I had him in 10th.

And I'm not just saying that to bash Kamali, I really think Farah, St. Cloud, Horvath, and Pavol looked better than he did.

10th?

That's pretty generous.

Somewhere in between 12-16th IMO.

Kamali had what? Condition.

I'll give him that. Good condition.

Everything else.. Nada. He had nothing going for himself.

Hopefully he'll drop some serious weight. That would perhaps give the illusion of bigger arms and legs.

I will answer this in a two-fold process. I thought it was down to me and Dennis James for 4th place ???. That is the feedback I was getting from people.

Ok. If you are a bodybuilder, then why are you training like a powerlifter for the contest? Does that make sense?

Because that is all I know.

Use less weight and do more reps?

You have a wide waist because of your genetic structure. You can't really do much about it. :(

Weird.

I got to disagree with you on Ronnie's gut. It is terrible. With a midsection like he had back in 1995-1998, there wouldn't be as much controversy about him getting a Sandow for early Christmas present every year.

Don Youngblood.

Greg Kovacs.

Ronnie-C.

Tom Princess.

Four gut monsters on the top of my head.

Granted, Kovacs came to Teh Chad and was already a piece of mess, but the three other fellas are/were terrible in the gut department too.

Who's to blame?

Chad is a monster, but chad makes people's arms and legs grow along with the bellies.

King stood onstage with small arms and legs and a barrel belly.  If he had worked with Chad this year, his gut might be swollen and his kidneys might have been stolen, but he'd have been sporting some bigger guns in poses.

Look at that bulging midsection...

He needs to slim down.

18 inch arms looks bigger on a 225 lbs guy than on someone weighing 250 lbs.

Yeah and that comment comes from someone with such an extensive knowlage of juice.

Fact is Chad transformed many pro's from nobodys to winners....hmm...Coleman comes to mind.

If he didnt know how to do his job people would have left him long ago and no new ones would have come too.

Now about the powerlifting training style...LMAOOOOOOOOOOO King DONT train like that and even if he did it still a damn lie.Trainling like that wont make your waist wide.Old Ronnie,Franco,JJ,Ohearn, that polish dude who is WSM and many more train like mad men but have small waists.

Although many probably disagree with me, as I know, with Joe McNeils help, and if he is serious about training like a bodybuilder, and give up the powerlifter ways, he may very well place in the top 3 at the Supershow or the Montreal Pro.

As for Kamali leaving Chad, competitors move around. Hany Rambod, Chris Aceto, Milos Sarcev and others will tell you that. Sometimes what works for one doesnt work for another.

As for George Farah and his comments, very interesting George. Can wait to see you to onstage again head to head and may the best man win.

Actualy most juicers train kind of like powerlifting ,the juice gives you lots of energy and more importent motivation! Usualy it the ones that train light that are considered wierd ,Flex,Vince Taylor and such.

I personly know many pure powerlifters that have a great waists.Nothing more then another excuse for a has-been Shitmalai...damn he aint even an has been since he never was shit... ;D

I don't have small arms, they're 21 inches contest time!

George said something or looked at me crooked I swears!

Its sad that Kamali is held back by the fact that he's obviously surrounded by yes men.  Shawn Ray might very well have a hardon for bashing kamali, but his commentary on king during his routine was far from inaccurate.

Um, I think we're saying the same thing.  Chad is good.  He has torn up a few ppl, there is no arguing that.  But if king HAD worked with him, he would look better.  And while I choose not to use, I have learned a lot about gear in the last year.   I don't build sites for marathon runners all day ya know ;)

Is this is a wide waist?

Something just isn't right here, Dennis may have more distension but he can back it up with a upper body.

I don't know that kings problem is so much distension but the fact he's just not big enough up top to offset it.

I think a more realistic approach would've been for him to drop the competition plans for the rest of the year, clean out and get down in weight.

Then he may be a contender in the spring shows.

No way that "feedback" came from anyone even remotely objective.  ::)

63 is a great bunch of ass kissers and yes-mans for pro like Kamali; no wonder he have that illusion by himself to be a great bodybuilder while he really is just a joke. I mean how you can be great if you completely lack some muscle groups like forearms, triceps or calves? If you want to train like a power lifter, why you bother to come BB-competitions at all? Go for power lifting all the way, and show what you are good for ;D

I think its great to be optimistic and some of kamali's frame of mind is functional but he doesn't show much improvement in his weak areas and refuses to acknowledge them.  Its a shame.  I mean look at the pictures I posted before.  If kamali's arms are 21 inches what are DJ's?  Bare in mind that Lee Priest posted proof his arms were 21 in contest shape.

this is why I think the "training like a powrlifter gives you a thick waist" is bullshit, I give you POWERLIFTER Dave Gulledge:

I agree.  The new generation of powerlifter are a lot more lean and cut yet much stronger than before allowing them to have more endurance and speed in competition since a lot of the matches involve the fastest time.

King Kamali's waist is due to the excessive use of insulin and GH.  Whoever did his nutritional work really fucked him up pretty bad.  The growth hormone has enlarged his organs so there is little chance of his belly to go down and he'll have a number of health risks down the line.  If he controls his ab poses then it won't affect his placings so poorly.  The bowflex he's using will actually help out a lot since you have to keep your abs tight to properly train.  Its why I have one of my Total Trainer machines I sell in my home for.  I use it on the off-days for the same purpose as well as bring out the cuts.

One thing I did notice is that Kamali was pretty full and looked much larger.  It appears he was truthful about not using diuetics since they drain the glycogen out of the body

I've said this about him since 2001.  Kamali can actually still win the Mr Olympia but he's got to stay the course

I've said this about him since 2001.  Kamali can actually still win the Mr Olympia but he's got to stay the course

Are you on drugs?

this is why I think the "training like a powrlifter gives you a thick waist" is bullshit, I give you POWERLIFTER Dave Gulledge:

When I said "thick" (not destending) I meant "wide" meaning he's got thick obliques and makes him look like shit!! Also I'll bet money Gulledge changed his training 360 degrees from where he was at. Did you see his before pics????

What happened with the incident with George Farah on stage at the New York Pro?

I will use a line from the move 'Dragon - The Bruce Lee'. If you touch me, I am going to touch you back. And George shoved my arm during the front double biceps shot, and he also said something, which I am not going to repeat, which was disrespectful to me, and I sort of put him in his place. I don't take shit from anybody, especially when I am competing on stage.

George Brother don't even sweat King...what he did that night is what Mike Tyson did against Holyfield...King knew in his heart that he really didn't even belong on the stage...Be glad he did it, it will only be sweeter within the next year or so when his marriage fails and Palumboism takes its full effect...

Awesome idea though, getting a toughguy to come out on stage so the toughness would rub off on you and everybody would think you're real hard.

WOW....Just WOW..... :o
