Damn, Gracie got his ass handed to him. He didn't stand a chance.
Freak 8)
-
Matt proved he is the most dominate fighter, period, I knew he would win, but did not think he would dominate that much

He looked dominant but Gracie also looked a little old, weak and unsure.

gracie fought like he was almost scared... :-\

You'd be if your dad was watching. "No pressure, son. BTW, you're upholding our family legacy in the US. No pressure." ;D
Seriously, I didn't expect Hughes to be as dominant or agressive as he was.
-
hughes came out looking to prove...
he can even kick ass in the old folks home ;D
-
wow gracie didn`t submit :o
-
i was as impressed as you are...
no other person would have risked that injury...
and no other gracie would risk their pride EITHER! ;D
-
LOL

Royce showed heart not tapping out - I would have been screaming like a lil girl - lol

Now there's a good observation; a lot of people talk shit, but he stepped out there w/ nothing left to prove. I do hate that this may tarnish his legacy some.
Just remember that if the Gracies hadn't stepped out and shown people the importance of grappling/submission skills:
Hughes would be coaching wrestling,
Franklin would be teaching math,
Liddell would be boxing...for peanuts,
Arlovski would be sitting in a apartment in Minsk wondering if he'd have hot water someday,
and Dana White would have a combover :)

yeah and if nobody introduced plumbing to brazil Royce would have dysentary.
those early UFC's he won were loaded with guys who had no idea what to do on the ground

I think that the Gracie's brought a lot to the sport, probably more then any other team/family/fighter has, but when they dominated they were against a totally different breed of fighters.

That was the whole point of the UFC in the beginning: to expose the deficiencies of many popular styles, and to show that grappling was an integral, but overlooked, part of fighting.
The Gracies proved their point beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Today, the UFC is no longer about style against style, but fighter against fighter.
-
Gracie gave allot to the sport but to think that after all this time he didn't need to adapt his fighting style...Arrogance...I'm glade Huges beat his ass!!!

that's the point; the gracies exposed the basic weakness w/ most martial arts. Over time, I think you'll see more and more guys who aren't one style that has adapted other techniques, but guys who have trained from day 1 as fully rounded MMA fighters...

Itīs quite wacked that Royce is only 6 or 7 years older than Matt. Looks older.
