the kid with the hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (possible genetic predisposition that strength training can aggravate) is a big Ronnie Coleman/Flex wheeler fan . . . mentions them both by name. And has a room filled with posters. And he hits muscle shots at key moments in the film.
So, is this a slam on bb, or is it a positive portrayal? the kid seems to prefer bb as it is more real than WWE . . . at least that's what he tells his dad.
-
If the kid recovered by injecting steroids in his ass, that would be a positive portrayal of bodybuilding.
-
how about the doc giving him a toy that looks like Ronnie when it seems like the kid's going to kick it?
"Ronnie Coleman-two-time Mr. Olympia"
"Flex Wheeler-two hundred seventy-five pounds-two per cent bodyfat."
And Denzel goes and looks at the pics of all the musclemen in his kid's room before he goes on his hospital rampage.

hypertrophic cardiomyopathy can be cured, once you become Pro b.b.....
right?

Denzel looks like Bertil Fox
-
LOL yep.
As for John Q, in the most touching moment in the film, Chris Cormier was mentioned. The kid was basically on the verge of death and he praised Chris. Chris said that particular scene brought him to tears. When you think about how little bodybuilding is mentioned in the mainstream coupled with the fact that Chris was mentioned in the most touching scene in the movie, I can understand why Chris was moved by it.
John Q is an awesome movie

Denzel packs his own beef, thank you. Did you see the shape he got into for The Hurricane? He was 45 frickin' years old at the time.

It put pro bodybuilding in the best possible light in my opinion. Pro bodybuilders admired by a young fan, just like baseball ,b-ball, football, soccer, etc. Nasser said something about getting bodybuilding more of an image like a reg pro sport would be ideal, (he was not refering to this movie) and he was right.

how much cardio it take you to get them bad boys!
The sad state the US is in right now with the excuse that being 45 allows you to be a fat pig with no abs.
