Title: BCAA's
Post by: kicker on June 04, 2006, 06:54:26 PM
Are branch chain amino acids necessary when you're dieting to get lean?  Supposedly they provide anticatabolic effects on muscle on a reduced caloric intake...and I assumed you got enough of these from whey protein powder.

Can someone provide more info on this?

I would say that there isn't a time when you CAN"T take them. its always fine to take your BCAAs but they aren't something that I always have.

Ya, I too had the impression that BCAA's were always good to have...but it is worthwhile to invest in a free-form supplement?  You get them (iso-leucine, leucine, valine) in whey supplements in varying proportions, no?

Maybe someone can post some scientific literature about the purported benefits of BCAA supplementation.

Dear Kicker.

You posted this on the wrong board, a mod will get around to moving it soon.

In the future, please search existing threads before posting about an existing supplement... in all likelyhood, someone has already posted about it...
