The current whey protein I am taking has 22% of ones daily cholesterol in each serving where my brothers has only 8%. Why does mine have to high cholesterol, and is this OK. Thanks.

What brand are you using?
Most protein only powders have very little if any fat, except for Muscle Milk.....

Cholesterol in your food has little to no impact on your blood cholesterol, if that's what you're concerned with.
-
Right, saturated fats are much more of a concern in relation to your serum cholesterol. remember too, only 50% of dietary cholesterol will be absorbed and pass into your blood stream.

? Reducing or eliminating cholesterol from your diet will reduce your blood cholesterol.

No.
The main factors impacting your blood lipid profile is:
1. Genetics
2. Intake of saturated and trans fats
The "cholesterol" in food really doesn't have much to do with it.

I think genetics plays little or no role in blood cholesterol levels. This is only an anecdote, but my father had high cholesterol and was on medication till he died. He considered anything below 300 a good day. :) Because I eat differently than my dad, my "bad" cholesterol hovers around 90, with my total number around 120.
Saturated and trans fats have an impact, but cholesterol is only found in animal products, and blood cholesterol is directly linked to the consumption of animal products.
Here is an excerpt from a book I recently read (The China Study):
"Blood cholesterol is clearly an important indicator of disease risk. The big question is: how will food affect blood cholesterol? In brief, animal-based foods were correlated with increasing blood cholesterol. With some exceptions, nutrients from plant-based foods were associated with decreasing levels of blood cholesterol.
Several studies have now shown, in both experimental animals and in humans, that consuming animal-based protein increases blood cholesterol levels. Saturated fat and dietary cholesterol also raise blood cholesterol, although these nutrients are not as effective at doing this as animal protein. In contrast, plant-based foods contain no cholesterol and, in various other ways, help to decrease the amount of cholesterol made by the body."

Most likely because your protein has a larger percentage of whey concentrate-the cheapest type of whey, while your brothers has more whey isolate....they isolate the whey from the bad stuff:) When looking for a higher quality protein try and find one with less the 10 mg per 50 G. serving-if it is higher they are skimping on the quality of the product and normally your body lets you know ;D
-
look, unless the cholesterol counts exceeds 200mg/serving and its something you'll be eating all day, dont sweat it! These "poor quality whey's" you speak of.... they're all the same give or take some batches can contain more lactose and fat. Different companies have obtained similar but slightly different nutritional labeling facts. Stop being a wuss!
