Great job Ron bringing that up to Chick !! I like how he changed the subject as fast as he could to the PDI.
-
OH MAN Bob is going off on the PDI ....
hahahhaha
More melting ... He finnaly raises his voice .. I have to turn down the speakers
-
I am loving this......I have a new respect for Ron. There was a major melt about to happen. I think the "squad" needs to give Ron a a special invite.
-
Ron cut him off and Chic turned up the Volume
-
Bob: "Do you think many getbiggers are wasting an opportunity to talk to the pros? I think it should be a chance of a lifetime here"
Ron: "People want entertainment value. The good, the bad, the gossip."
Dan: "Listener suggestion: Should a person who chooses to be anonymous be allowed to post?"
Ron: "Sometimes you need to be anonymous to get something out. If you put your name to something, you may lose your press pass, your placing, your contract. We've seen it happen time and time again. In order to make the sport more positive, we need to have these issues out there."
Bob: "To the Joe Blow or Big Gunzzz out there- what's with the bashing? Why bash on the pros? Why rip on them?
Ron: "I don't like malicious bashing. Some BBers just cannot handle criticism."
Dan: "As the popularity has increased, has it changed the way you moderate the boards? "
Ron: "I have a lot more responsibility. There is a board designed specifically for talking to pros. I don't make money off the site. It's become a daily hobby. "
Bob: "As a pro who takes heat there- and has continued to post - I tell you whatever is on my mind. "
Ron: "Sometimes you deserve it, Bob"
Bob: "They ARE the peanut gallery. That post was to the GOOFS that are on there. I love the fans. But I stand by that- absolutely. They bash ppl for no good reason. I have no prob calling them the peanut gallery- that's what they are."
Ron: "There are only ten people that post like that continually"
Bob" That under 10 people DOMINATES THE BOARD. Let me get your take on the PDI:
Ron" I have no problem with the PDI. Anything that gives the sport more direction is good. I'll ask this of anybody- where are the sponsors/money coming from? WIll there be one event? What will happen to the athletes that commit.
Bob" Wayne is just GIVING away cards. Do you think that's a mistake? Not having qualifiers.?"
Ron: "I'm not sure about that. I think it makes the IFBB more interested in trying to improve and listening to their fans."
Dan: "We've all known wayne- and he is no fool. I'm going to assume he realizes the qual of athletes will have a fundamental impact upon the quality of his events. Are they handpicked? Is there criteria that we're not privy to? The quality of the athletes are
Ron: "I consider wayne a friend. I will not disrespect him. I consider S Weinberger a friend. A friend is a friend. That's how I treat people. If you disrespect me, you're not a friend anymore. That is the way I live my life."
Dan" We appreciate all the promotion and support you've given the radio show.
Ron" Anything that is good for the sprot, I would like out there- new shows, CHOC events, etc. It should be out there. I wish more fans would go to the expos and support shows. Once you go to one, your attitude will change, and will make it more positive for everyone out there".
*I typed as fast as I could- listen to replay for complete piece*

Bob nearly melted when talking about the 10 members on here who don't worship him.

I must admit- Ron kept it real up there! Didn't let Bob bully him at all, and allowed Bob to dig his own hole on the peanut gallery issue. He kept calm too- which is more than Bob did, unfortunately.
Bravo!

10 members who DOMINATE the site and give Bob headaches so his wife aint getting any. I think this night is gonna be one of those for Bobby.
-
First of all - I didn't own Bob. He says it like it is, I try and do the same. If you ever met Bob, you will find out he is pretty cool, and will argue and debate over any issue as long as it doesnt resort to malicious bashing.
-
Kiddin aside I think it was a great show, and the sport would be less without Bob. Keep it up.

just read little bits and pieces of the interview with Bob Chick and i loved the part where you told him that some pros can't handle criticism, hahahaha, monster guts, good for you.
-
::)
;D

And I agree on that. As a public figure in a sport dominated by pictures, comments, and physique, comments are a way of life. What I don't agree with is the malicious bashing comments, designed to specifically hurt for no reason. Like saying 'You suck' when you can say 'Your distended stomach was not pleasing to the eye'

should we tell Kamali, "your arms overall size leaves a fan with a feeling of disappointment, perhaps you could spend some more time performing bicep/tricep supersets, ok, stupendous old boy, care for some tea?

Everyone gets treated differently here and I don't think one can generalize and say that every bodybuilder gets bagged when he posts. I have been called names and treated disrespectfully on other forums but never on Getbig. That surprizes me because if what Bob says is true then many of the regulars here are nasty. Maybe I wasn't that big or something? Anyway, in the old days I would have been called a pro because I own a gym. Anyone who owns a gym knows you have less time and incentive to train than your members! I have an engineering factory and make most of my own equipment plus do repairs and modifications for my large gym.
What Ron said about respecting friends is true. That is something we all should listen to. There is way too much disrespect shown to other people. I think that explains why so few champion bodybuilders post here.
I love the sport of bodybuilding and the gym business. However, things have changed over the years and there are issues now that wouldn't have been tolerated years ago. I think when men could win contests with breasts sort of spoiled the sport as we knew it. The gals did the reverse thing and most supplemented what they lost with silicon. That also spoiled women's bodybuilding because it allowed them to use steroids.
I still design and build new bodybuilding machines and that is a dirty job but rewarding when you see your members enjoying them. To still make my body grow at my age (64) is very satisfying and keeps me feeling much younger than others my age.
Good luck to any organization that does it right for bodybuilders. I think competition can benefit everyone including the fans.

Garrett.
Rich Jones.
Dexter.
Cutler.
Melvin.
Galanti.
Rhino.
Heath.
Dugdale.
TJ.
Rusty Jeffers.
Dozens of female competitors.
All received tons of props and respect here. Why? Well, they have treated people nicely, and didn't arrive with prison/domestic/drug sales/trash talking in their history.
Strange that King, Bob, Shawn, and Titus get treated like asses. I wonder why that is?
-
I gotta tell you Rhino (Jack) got more shit on here than anyone. He breezed through it with flying colors and is now liked by everyone. He is real and the things he says he backs up. He body is looking great and will look awesome at the NOC. Chic is a pro and I like him, but Chic cannot handle the bashing like others do. Thats just him. He obviously loves BB. To put up with what he has to he has to love it or he is really dumb.

like i said on the other thread, thanks Ron for providing this filter of anonymity. now if you could
only reign in the moderator with 4 accounts it would be better. with all do respect bob chick your suggestion that it takes education to be a IFBB bodybuilding judge cant be serious. IFBB judging is a joke. an IFBB promoter in one town is the next town's IFBB judge. talk about a circus sideshow.
-
Rhino's m.eltdowns were of such a spectacular nature you can't help but like him. He seems real; not some fake, boring, plastic, pretentious, weider pricipled gear monkey that thinks the sun shines out of their cock ravaged ass.
-
It was a good interview.
GetBig is the premere board for cuttin edge info relating to BB
Ron was very soft spoken, yet still manage to own relay his point of view to counter Bob's actions in the past.
Personally, I think Bob thinks that all pros should be worshipped. When I see an NFL player who is a no name offensive lineman, I dont go asking him for his autograph and what not. Now if I seen like a Micheal Stahan or Tiki Barber ,then that is something diffrent and means more cause they are stars.
In BB there are probably five to six guys all time that I would be like , WOW !!
Arnold, Lee, Dorian, Ronnie, Jay, and prob. Cormier. Outside of them maybe ten more who I would be like ,"Oh guess who I met.."
All the rest are nobody special to me and prob. to others like me, regardless of some laminated IFBB pro card.
HECk I make more than 90% of the pros !!
REgardless, these are issues that can be debated here and that makes Get Big a cool place to chill . 8) 8) 8)

IFBB Judging nor any type of judging is not a joke. It isnt simple, and various degree of opinions between judges can cause tension. It is one thing to say that, it is another thing to actually judge a contest. It is not that simple. And unless you are there, pictures cannot tell you the story. At the Arnold Classic, some of us were judging from the photographer's corner and we got the top 4 correct. Then 5-6-7 were switched up a little. But most of the outcomes were pretty much what the judges thought. But at the local NPC levels, like this past weekens Jr. California, I found myself at odds with some of the judges opinions, as well as did others, while agreed with a lot of them, and others didnt. Sometimes symmetry or conditioning or hardness or muscularity reigns in more dominant than others. In bodybuilding and, which a lot of figure competitors complain about, they don't know what the judging standard will be for that show. Various judges have different opinions on what the desired physique should be.
As for an IFBB Promoter to be also a judge, now that is a question that can be debated. Can one that promote's various contests judge in other areas? Does it truly affect the standings. Not really. But you need to choose whether you are a promoter or a judge or a competing athlete. Now, the same question can be asked if IFBB Pros should be able to judge NPC shows? Are not they friends also with some competitors? Can everyone really not find a connection with anyone in the sport.

"a good reason Flex is a photographer and not a judge"
and what might those reasons be?

Longggggggggg live get big

Flex is a columnist and writer for Muscular Development, and takes lot of pictures. Flex would be a great judge, as when we are at various events, he usually correctly gets the top 5 down pretty well. Of course, Flex is pushy sometimes, trying to block my view, pushes my camera, steals some photographer's seats, and only likes to eat hamburgers :)

Chick is make that comment cause he can't take critism. Pur and simple.
Flex know bodybuilding way better than the current judges, I am pretty sure of it !

I agree, at the past ASC my predictions were one place off for the top 6 even though i thought 2-3 could have placed higher but i figured they wouldn't be but that came down to my personal opinion and i think you can agrue that almost every one deserved the place they got. It's rare in my opnion when you take into account that live is way better then pics that anyone really gets completely screwed but it can happen here and there but for the most part i can't say i argue with the judging except for i personally like some BBers better then others but that doesn't mean they always derserve the higher place.
