Title: Pat Robertson leg pressing 2000 lbs - What a Joke!
Post by: MartiniMan on June 08, 2006, 05:02:56 AM
It's been a long time since I started a thread ... I'm more of a lurker and occasional commenter, but this DEMANDED I start a post ...  (Heard about it on a morning radio show, had to go searching for it on the web, and was absolutely disgusted)

Check this out: http://www.cbn.com/communitypublic/shake.aspx

On that page, click on "Watch a video of Pat leg-pressing 1000 pounds"

I don't think I've ever seen anyone, I mean ANYONE leg press such a short distance, I mean, this guy is only barely breaking a knee lock, and no one around him has the balls to tell him, "uh, Pat, that's not a leg press, I don't think there's actually a name for what you're doing".   And don't even get me started about his revolutionary shake (protein powder and flax seed oil) that NO ONE has ever thought of yet.

I desperately need to see some serious bashing here, boys ....

Yeah, Know what you mean. We have one guy at our gym - and to give him some credit he is in his fifties and has a good sense of humour - but his ROM is pretty small, and we never miss an opportunity to rag him -ie. What are ya working today? Your elbows? etc. That shit never gets old. Hehe.

Seems to me it's like most of his claims (exaggerated, overblown, and ridiculous).  Hugo Chavez would kick his old WASP ass.

The sad thing is, the general public probably can't differentiate between this fucktard doing his 1000 lb 'knee-lockouts'  ::) and Ronnie front squatting 6 plates for 4, ass-to-the-floor. Oh Brother  :(

Ronnie was nowhere near ass to the floor on front squats on the Unbelievabe, he went fairly deep but if you want to see proper depth check out some Olympic lifters.

You're right, he broke parallel, but didn't go ass-to-the-floor. My mistake  :-[

The guy's a fruitcake but I'm sure there are some spaced out Jesus Cowboys and Evangelical schizzophrenics that try to give him some credit for using his arms to push his legs to move the leg press sled a whole 2 inches.  That's fu.kin pathetic.  A man his age should be doing some light lifting, cardio and shutting the fu.ck up.

Anybody can lift heavy by using a leg press.

Barbell squat is the real leg exercise.

Monster one millimetre rep range.  :o

He doesn't even remove the stops, lmao.

Oh well, I hope to be alive at his age, let alone seeing the inside of a gym.

Hey, give him some credit, at least he isn't doing it on the machine, slamming the stack and having 15 spotters watch him....like someone we know recently M.E.L.T.E.D.D.O.W.N. on here.

By moving his feet to the upper portion of the platform he is giving himself much greater leverage.  Plus the fact that he was using horrible form.  Besides, do people actually think that lifting a 1000lbs on a 45% leg press really equals a true 1000lb lift?

He's using leverage, horrible form, and the general public's stupidity to create this miracle.

Its pretty amazing how much the leg press can inflate your ego but as I unfortunately discovered today, it translates to absolutely nothing in terms of deep squats.  :(

Seriously, it was pathetic :)
