Title: Guy Grundy in a BBC documentary
Post by: djohnsen on June 11, 2006, 02:04:49 AM
I just saw a documentary that some Lois something(french name) on BBC2 did on BB.
I thought it was quite good, actually. It touched on some on the negative aspects of
the sport. Drugs off course, female bodybuilding and what some people have to do or
is doing to make money.

What I thought was good with the documentary is that it was honest and fair to bb.
Guy Grundy was handling himself very good on behalf of himself and bb.

It would be interesting to hear your comments on this show, Guy?
Have anyone else seen it, what do you make of it?

The presenter, Louis Theroux is a renowned interviewer that specialises in appearing to be a bumbling chump - whist actually making the interviewee look like shit. He has done hatchet jobs on quite a few people, and out of all of them Guy acquitted himself the best. And he looked awesome!

OK. I thought Lois did a good job on this one. Not judgment IMO just asking
questing fair and straight. Not easy for a proffesional to balance their answers
regarding steroids. But I thought Guy Grundy managed it pretty well.
Tatiana Butler also presented her in a good way, female bb is somewhat of
a crazy thing. But she did good

a couple of years ago the Travel Channel did an episode of "Eye of the Beholder" that focused on bodybuilding. it featured Chris Cook preparing for the nationals when he got won first in his class, but not the overall for the second time. they focused on female bodybuilding too (but i forgot her name). it was hosted by Serena Yang and was very well done. They didnt even focus on steroids (although Charles Glass briefly spoke about it), and focused on the commitment and sacrifices bodybuilders make on behalf of the sport. it was really cool, worth getting on tape if possible.

MORE RECENTLY, A DOCUMENTARY ON BODYBUILDING CALLED "RAISING THE BAR" WAS PRODUCED. IT PRESENTED IN A POSITIVE LIGHT, THE CRAZY AMOUNT OF WORK INVOLVED IN GETTING READY FOR A BODYBUILDING CONTEST. THE FILM FOLLOWS SEVERAL COMPETITORS (DAVE PULCINELLA, VICTOR DEL CAMPO, VICKI NIXON ETC) FOR 20 WEEKS LEADING UP TO A NATIONAL QUALIFYER. IT DOES A GREAT JOB PRESENTING THE REALITY OF MODERN DAY BODYBUILDING COMPETITION. ANY ON HERE SEEN IT?

I KNOW GUY GRUNDY SELLS IT ON HIS SITE.

Good to hear from you in PBW this week.
Yes, Charles was a strange character ;-)
But Lois handeled that situation verry well too.
I think Tatiana Butler came out good in the documentary.
Honest about whats going on instead of lying about the
situation.

Not quite the hardcore bodybuilding stuff, but Body of work was pretty good in showing what weight training does.
