Bodybuilders in general are not very athletic. Too heavy to run fast and for a long period of time, and too heavy to be agile with the ball. There are some big fast and athletic guys (nfl running backs for example) but that's rare.
In soccer you have to be light to play well. Ronaldo gained some weight and played like shit today for Brazil, was slow.

on the flip side there are lots of big players such as shevshenko, vieri, jan koller. rooneys even pretty solid and they move fast as hell.

bullshit, Luca Toni is great, almost scored many times, Pirlo scored and played well, Camarenese, a bunch of young good players. Italy's defense is excellent as well. Not to mention the best keeper in the world perhaps in Buffon.

To win the world cup generally ya need 4 really world class players. on top of 7 great players. as opposed to 11 good/great players such as italy.

they are ranked 5th true. tho rankings are based on who u play and who is in ur fifa region. ie north america and centeral america. shit countries therefore they are best outta them and high rankings.

My girlfriend of years back in college was Greek. her father used to make me watch greek soccer games ( in greek) for hours. When they won the Euro cup a few years ago I had to go to a soccer party lol.

He made 31 goals in the Series A, these Italian defenders are among the best and toughest in the world and the teams generally play a very defensive game, waiting for a counter. No, Luca Toni is a very good striker, as good as Arjen Robben is a winger hehe.

Pirlo is amazing, Zambrotta is probably the best left back in the world (maybe Roberto Carlos, who is aging), Nesta and Cannavarro form the absolute BEST DEFENSE PAIRING in the world.
Their attack is stacked ... Totti, Toni, Gillardino, Inzhaghi, Del Piero, Iaquinta....take your pick, all world class.
Brazil's defense is wicked overrated.... emerson, lucio and cafu are very old and they looked very unorganized against croatia, who could have done better to score.
As for soccer players not making much compared to Roger Clemens, you underestimate how much they make dude.
Transfers for top players are insane. I think Schevchenko transfer to chelsea was for like 30 million pounds!!!!!

Yes there is alot of money is MLS, not for the american team though, socer has fallen 25% though since 96 or 93 I believe, and MLS is not making money as planned, it's owned by some powerful business men that pretty much use it as a toy.
Soccer players work hard can't remember what team visited my gym but they worked out for around 6 hours and drank gatorade NON STOP, most stayed covered up and jumped rope the whole time.

Not really, Bozo. if you know anything about soccer, you'll realize that these soccer players have lots of leg power, they got some of the best legs in sports. Soccer players are the most fit of all athlete, they have to have great speed and endurance for freaking 90 minutes, no time out. their torsos cannot be too heavy, it's just the way a soccer player's physique gotta be.

Totally agree with you. I used to play soccer in my teens. I'm a big fan of Brazil, and Ronaldo looks normal, but by soccer standards, he's out of shape. now we seeing his result from the field

Don't ever compare soccer players to Football players, in soccer you don't just run, you have to maintain control of the ball while running. otherwise, you'll freaking trip and break your neck. In football, all a running back does, is hold tight to the ball while running.

Not trying to be inflammatory, but the US qualifying in CONCACAF should be a forgone conclusion . They play alot of the tiny West Indian islands many of which have populations not even reaching 100,000 people. The US actually had to play to island I reside on...which is laughable considering my island is....am I am being literal.....2 miles wide at the widest point with a native population of under 40,000 people. Apart from Mexico, Canada, USA...you are only dealing with tiny nations in this division...Martinique, Monserratt, Nevis, French Guyana etc.

Not even. Most of the pros are 140 to 170. A few large guys here and there, but they are specialists, and even they are all legs. I went from 165 to 195 after I finished college and it ruined me as a player. Now at 32, I'm about 187, and even though I'm older, I'm much quicker than I was at 195 when I was 27. Event the big guys are naturally big, with large frames, not pumped up big.

He's actually making 22 million prorated for the rest of the season. So the Astro's are paying him about $136,000 a game for the rest of the season which roughly equals $14,500,000.

If rooney plays tonight it will only be for 10-15 mins at the end of the game then probably about half an hour in the sweden game (assuming england win tonight and have already qualified). He needs to get match fitness before the knock-out stages begin hence why he needs to start taking atleast some part asap. I agree - looking at ecuadors 1st game they look a decent team and will be no pushover should england meet tham in the next round (which is looking likely at the moment)!

It takes a couple of decennia for investments and coaching to get up to par, I think the US will continue to close the gap. But a large population/player pool is no guarante for succes, there's no Russia and China in the worldcup

I wouldnt say that, but it's not bodybuilding either.
Here in Europe you have random - out of competition - tests too. One night they're at your house and you have to deliver samples.
One player even was suspended for 2 years for using a hair-loss middle: finasteride. (Which can be used to cover up steroids.) It's common knowledge that testing here is not perfect, but it's a lot better than in American sports (like baseball, basketball, NFL, even athletics ...).
