okay guys i need some input here...right now i'm weighing in at 208...not bad...i'm not slow but i gas usually after the 2nd round. when discussing it with my trainer i was told that if i stayed in the light heavyweight division that i'd hafta really work on speed with throwing "weighted" fists around to get my hands used to working harder so when i don't have any kinda weight attached be it dumbbells or wrist weights..they'll fly! my hands are pretty fast..they'renot blazing but fast enough that if you get caught looking you'll eat my fist. now if i move down in weight class...the guys get faster and i end up having to defend instead of being my usual aggressive self! when i fight in light heavies the guys are slower which i can work well with but when i get pop'd i get pop'd....and you know what i'm talking about....
i'm also scared that if i start to drop weight down to the lower 190's that i'll lose alot of my strength..right now i'm a 400lb bench presser, etc. and am hoping not to lose that or much of it anyway....i'm thinking i should just slowly cut the weight back..by maybe like a lb or two a week for awhile and see where it takes me?
what do you guys suggest? ??? thanks
i also start taking a group boxing class aside from privates during the week now too! this should be fun!

Well to be honest your in the same boat as a bunch of my buddies. To me, based off of what I have seen with them, I would turn up your cardio and maybe look at your diet a little bit. I know that's a little scary to cut food while your upping your cardio so I would first look in to cardio before you cut any cals. If you are not 208 and super lean, going to 185 seems to be what makes more sense for you and here's why. Now your at about 208 with no water depletion whatsoever. If you diet down to about 192-195 you'll be right were you need to be when you go to cut water. Trust me, most guys you see in the 185's weigh about 195 come fight time! Pedialight, pizza, pasta seem to do the trick perfectly. If you cut 10-12lbs I think your speed will come, you'll be better conditioned and the power will still be there!!! Good luck bro...

i'm gonna try to strip down maybe 5 or so pounds starting tomorrow...
protien shakes twice a day...multi vitamins...salads and meat here and there minus the carbs
i MIGHT take in a small hleping of carbs come an hour or so before gym time...seems like if i eat 45 minutes before i lift i have alot of gas in the tank...through out the workout. i've also started sprinting on the treat mill....3 minutes hard and fast with one minutes of rest then doing it again for 15 minutes total. i'm thinking my cardio is gonna help..and when i'm working the bags or with my trainer...it's nonstop for 5 minutes with no down time and a minute or two's rest between them..so my cardio IS lacking..i'm not gonna lie...
and i also stopped smoking! :)
