when throwing elbows in class last night i split them bow...just infront of the crown when throwing into a heavy bag again..
bad form? am i dragging them?
i'm beginning to wonder if i'll survive to even make it into the ring! should i just start wrapping my elbows up for classes? i think that would hinder them toughening up a little but eh *shrug*

your elbos will toughen up, even with taping them. Sounds like you might be dragging them across the bag. When you throw the elbow, make it to where it sticks on the spot you hit. Dont try to throw them super fast at first. You want to make sure you are hitting and sticking the spot and not flailing elbows around.

you're right..the theory behind it was that if i pulled it..and happend to cut them...it would splat it open..kinda like running your forearms across cuts when they're on the ground to open them up some more...
guess with elbows that's a no no?

Personally if you stick your elbows, the blunt force is more concentrated. I have cut guys with sticking elbows and ht eother ples was that it jarred them. If you drag the elbow, the force is diffused, even though you can cut the other guy. I prefer being able to cut nad jar the person with one hit. also by being able to stick the elbow you are more compact and have a little less risk of overshooting and getting trapped. IMO
