Mike had a second bypass.and is doing good now. I also know he Just had a kid like in may...possibly late april. And he said he was slowly hitting the gym, like 3x a week very basic stuff, but overall he's doin better. Dont expect the guy to be hardcore again...just wants to get healthy again (if its possible).

I sometimes take for granted, my health. Ironically I used to think worry about it. Now i see some of these pros (My idols) having problems with their hearts, kidneys, and some are dieing. Mike Matarazzo, a favorite, this dude had personality, charisma, and not to mention size!!!! I met him a few times:1994 when he was huge @ 275 with abs, 95', and in 98'. Each time he guess posed he lit the stage up. Personality goes along way......Train Hard, TG

i understand this is meant ironically, but think about it.
yeah, i'm sure having your blood levels checked makes everything fine.
Actually, and i think with pros it's probably the same, having your blood checked results mostly in commets like
'okay, it's bad, but at least i know it's not THAT bad' no matter how bad it really is.
so, even all the pros who claim they are under permanent medical supervision will have problems, because these diseases and problems build up over a long time.
i know a guy who had perfectly fine blood levels this week and a heart attack in the next.
massive doses of amphetamine or ephedrine come knocking at the door searching for attention.
and, also what tommygun said, it's sad to see his idols die or get strokes, kidney failure or heart diseases, but that's bodybuilding!
i also remember that pathetic article in FLEX where Matarazzo wanted money from his fans, because he couldn't pay his medical expenses. so much for medical supervision and insurances

Mike's dad lived well into his 70s, didn't he?
Strange that he'd have heart issues in his late 30s.
unless his mother had some major issue we never heard of, I'd put the majority of the blame on his engaging in the super cool BBing lifestyle.

Some make it through with no problems - Dorian, Kevin, Shawn etc; but some fall by the wayside. Thats the nature of the beast :-\
