haahaha, that reminds me of the last gym i worked out in!
They build a new bigger gym there a few years ago and it had wodden floor! First thing i did when i came to the new place the first time was laugh out loud and tell the guy who owns the gym how stupid he is.
He didn't even think about it before hand, just thought of how nice a wooden floor is.
Needless to say it wasn't so nice for long, haha.

Yea he's pretty big but that's nothing for him. If you see the recent Ronnie pics Ronnie is a lot thicker. Since Ronnie's body looks better than Gunter's Gunter should come in a big as humanly possible. But he actually took a big break this year and lost a lot of weight in the off season. So he'll come in the same size as last year.

Give the guy a break, he is always polite. ::) How the hell do you know if he is a racist. Just cause he is from Germany does not mean jack. One of my best friends is from Berlin and he only dated dark skinned girls. He was blond haired and blue eyed...Hitler's dream. Great guy who drinks like a fish, is fricken brilliant, and is cool to boot. I bet you Gunther would be a good guy to throw down a beer with at a local pub and hit on the local (female) talent.

I am not a particular fan of Gunthers physique but I can tell you a story that sums up the type of guy he is.
Last year some friends were in a resturaunt in LA when they spotted Gunther eating with some friends. being bodybuilders themselves they wanted to say hello but did not want to appear to be bothering him or to be rude. Gunther spotted them looking over, realising they were BB's and putting 2 and 2 together realised the situation. He then got up from his table and introduced himself asking both my friends to join him and his friends.
They said he was fantastic company and even paid for their meal.As i said i don't like gunters physique but i have to admit that is a real pro.

Great to hear storys like that in the world of the IFBB where we have pros trying to "bitch slap" fans, charging $20 for a silly photo and murders...
Thanks for sharing this with us I have a great respect for Gunter now.

In my opinion Gunter is the MOST fan friendly Pro of all time. I have several stories to share with you .... but ... I need to go to bed.
Gunter has the most humble and marketable attitude of any Pro in my opinion. For that fact alone I wish him the best ... and hope he can rise to be Mr.Olympia one day. The sport of bodybuilding really NEEDS Gunter!!!!
Without charismatic guys like Gunter the "sport" of bodybuilding will die. Some might say it's already dead?

Last years olympia gunter looked awesome. Ripped as. Bigger and better than Ronnie. Given different judges there is no reason why he shouldn't have won last year.

Gunter looks good - structure is off ! He was in the first call out from the front however when he turned to the back - He condition did not match his front. The judges seemed really disappointed.
The judges gave him the chance however he lost the fight on the stage.

I really wanted to go but i didnt had the $$ sufficient...Its really a shame, here in brazil we dont have too much oportunities to see International pros (the last time someone went here was Ronnie i think, like 3 or 4 years ago).
I think it was really good, he got somewhat of a good coverage of the media here...I saw things about him in newspapers, and at least 3 interviews in major TV channels here
The fact that he is good looking AND have a great charisma for sure helped him to get more coverage.

Great picture Grant. It supports what I'm saying. Gunter needs to come in big big. if he doesn't outmuscle Ronnie he doesn't stand a chance. I don't like the idea that he takes 4 months off and shrinks. He should do like Jay, Jay still can't match Ronnie in size and detail but at least he tries :). He trains all year round and looks huge all the time. I feel sorry for the guy. I think he should have won in 2001 but otherwise he's delusional to say he should have won any other time and from the Ronnie pictures I saw recently he still doesn't stand a chance. Gunter on the other hand has the frame to do what Cutler can't which is be bigger than Ronnie.

I was at that show (the 1st SOS), and I can promise you this. If Gunter hadn't won, the audience (all 50 of us :)) would have thrown chairs. Gunter was that over; Ronnie really beat himself at that show by coming in poor (for his standards) condition. DeMilia told us at the after party that several judges wanted to put Coleman in 3rd behind Cormier :o

gunter really did look amazing in 2002.
even before that, he was a bit underated. he would always recieve great reviews from the writers about his appearances in various contests regarding his mass and conditioning. but in 02, everything clicked.

Although Gunter did look amazing at this show the "fixing of the 2002 GNC" is still possible. Prior to the contest the posters for the show pictured a huge image of Gunter and small image of Ronnie beneath Gunter. Now, why would a bb that took 4th place at the O and had previously taken 14th-16th places for many O's prior get top billing over the current and multiple winning Mr. O. Doesn't jive.

Actually, Gunter is the only guy on stage who doesn't look small next to Ronnie. He also carries his weight a lot better than Ronnie.

For once i agree with you, Gunter look reminds me alot of Arnold cause of the fact that he's not just putting on useless size, he's scuplting his look to his best advantage and it looks better every year :)

What I still can't figure out about the 2005 MR.O is how did Jay place ahead of Gunter? And what was Gustavo doing in the top 5? ???
Last year had some weird placings, guys at their all time best getting beat by many who looked the worst they have looked in years :-\

Well, in the photo that started this thread Gunter looks huge. How do guys get that big? Look at his thighs and look at those arms. Amazing size for a tall man.
When it comes to opinions of who has pleasing or impressive physiques then it is clear we all have ideas and favourites. I like to give credit where it is due. Sure Ronnie is huge but I have never thought he had a beautiful body. Gunter does look impressive and he appears on stage in a condition that shows us what Arnold might have looked like had he trained harder in the good old days. I also consider that Jay and Dexter have superior physiques to Ronnie. The judging of contests has been controversial for many years now and I doubt things will change soon. I still insist that no man with breasts should ever win a Mr Anything contest! I also would never give first place to a person without details in the gastrocnemius muscles.
