Imagine what this natural would look like if he had juiced...
Part of an interview Trevor Smith conducted with this "natural":
TS: I know this is a touchy subject with you, but I have to ask. What are your theories on drugs in the sport?
VR: Well I get asked this all the time, and I do not like to answer because I feel I have to be responsible. I know what I am doing, but if someone thinks they can do what I do to be like me and then they hurt themselves, it becomes my fault. All I can say is there are proven medicinal uses for steroids and other compounds, which if used properly are very safe. However, the key is used properly. These days the guys are using insane amounts and using GH, and insulin as well. I would never in a million years play around with insulin or thyroid drugs either. Too dangerous. Besides if you know enough about nutrition you can effectively manipulate your own insulin levels to be very beneficial for building muscles.
TS: Alright, I ain’t pulling any punches... ..What drugs do you use and which ones do you feel are the most effective.
VR: Hmmm... ..nice try Trevor.
TS: Alright, let me rephrase that. If a bodybuilder were to choose to use drugs, are there any that you feel are safer and more effective than others.
VR: Let me just say that I think androgen-based drugs are shit and very dangerous and hard on the system. They do nothing but bloat the hell out of a person and then when they are stopped everything is lost. A much wiser approach would be to use highly anabolic compounds. Because if used correctly they can result in lots and lots of quality muscle that stays with you for the most part.
TS: Things like equipoise and winstrol are highly anabolic
VR: Yes
TS: Well in all honesty, I cannot believe that you don’t feel androgens are effective... I mean I would have guessed by your condition at fibo very huge but also holding water that you would find them somewhat useful
VR: I am not going to comment on my personal life for the reasons stated before. I will say, however, that there is one compound out there that is very androgenic, and very anabolic and would result in lots of muscle. But it is very toxic and dangerous and would never be used for any length of time
TS: And what compound would that be
VR: Parabolan
TS: You know one of the major problems I see, is that young guys coming up and in established pros, have a hard time training without the use of drugs and therefore stay on all the time. Mostly these guys never put in any time training naturally and once their cycle is done, they start to crash in size and panic. So rather than wait to clean the system and learn to train and progress naturally as well... they hop right back on a course or at the very least "bridge". Which always cracks me up because these idiots are never giving their body a break... which in the long run really hinders their progress.
VR: I totally agree. That is the problem. People don’t take the time off that their bodies need. It would be wise to give the body 4-6 months of total clean time a year... ..but invariable this happens with only a few. But they are the few that will be around for a long time and be healthy to boot. The other problem they have is they think drugs are the key which they are not. Nutrition and training are the keys...

so basically speaking, this guy is 4 month/year natural?
What an asshole, calling himself the uncrowned natural Mr Olympia.

Despite Vic Richards' mythical physical extremes, he is not stereotypical of bodybuilders. Vic Richards attained a Bachelor degree in Psychology and Human Behavioral Science at University of Southern California.
haha, his page is full of bullshit! lmao

" I am college educated and have a degree in psychology. My family are all doctors, so there is no shortage of intelligence in my genes and certainly a lot more when compared to the people that participate and run this sport."

From the Bethany Howlett school of resume construction.

"As much as I wanted to complete, I couldn't question their authority, to be Mr. Olympia, just having physique is not enough, you have to be a dummy, you have to kiss ass," Richards said. "I am not a follower and I was turned off by this."
Richards said the morals instilled by his family took over and was the reason he walked away from the insanity. But he refused to walk away from training, as he calls the gym his haven, his "holy ground" where he goes to meditate.
Richards wonders what would have happened if the great artists of our time like Michelangelo or Picasso had conformed to what people wanted. They never would have become legends. They would have caved in to expectation and become conformists, their art dying along with their originality.

this one is actually good!
G: Do you feel that the competitive element of bodybuilding is focused on too much? Are you suggesting it should be eradicated completely, or just that it should not be emphasized so much?
VR: It should be eradicated. Bodybuilding as it is now is about death; it has nothing to do with health. Bodybuilding is about life. Bodybuilding is about living in tune with self and life, because if the art of bodybuilding is well applied, the aging process could be slowed down. We could pretty much prevent a lot of diseases, mental and physical. With competitive bodybuilding, a lot of stuff goes on where they have to dehydrate themselves to the point where people collapse, and even lose their life. People have to hook themselves up to an intravenous drug just to achieve maximum muscularity in order to look good for five seconds, or maybe a minute. Their heart has stopped beating and people end up dying. They flush all the minerals out of their body, and they use diuretics for the show. I’ve seen a lot of these bodybuilders look like a muscular Santa Claus with distended stomachs. Gone are the days when small tapered waist were once associated with bodybuilding. We have pretenders that are shooting oil inside their muscle in order to make it appear larger. You can’t tell the real from the fake anymore. I call them the David Copperfield of bodybuilding. Where have all the real bodybuilders gone? Where are all the Franco Columbo’s the Sergio Oliva’s, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s, Lee Haney’s, Bertix Fox’s, and Samir Bannout’s? Today’s bodybuilding is not about life it’s about death.

Mayhaps Bethany "The Swede" Howlett and Victor Richards could breed.
That would make for some really "elite lineage". ::)

You're not the uncrowned mr. anything anymore. I remember him saying he'd compete at the turn of the century cause the sport will finally have caught up with him, well guess what it's come and gone and you have not done a damn thing. Do your roids, make your cash guest posing and shut the fuck up cause you ain't the uncrowned mr. anything anymore...wait I take that back, you're mr. uncrowned done nothing in the sport for the last 15+ years.

c'mon, that ain't a melt-down is it? I wasn't foaming at the mouth when I typed it or anything...

What an asshole, calling himself the uncrowned natural Mr Olympia.
Just like the time when I talked to him at the Red Onion Nightclub in Seal Beach, CA. He told me he didn't lift weights. This was the very some day he saw me at Gold's Venice where he went through a two hour workout with the Barbarian brothers.

That's not Victor Richards. The dude under that mask is white. I remember seeing this pic in an old issue of MuscleMag. I can't quite remember his name, but this guy was charged with murdering his girlfriend.

It's pretty hard to be crowned when you don't compete. Many people believe Richards has a fragile ego, which would be easily bruised should he be defeated by a smaller, but better conditioned, competitor.
In fact, I believe Rich Gaspari mentioned that he beat Richards in an amateur show years ago. And Richards had a tantrum about it.
Richards claimed that the "powers-that-be" were out to get him, which is why he took advantage of his dual-citizenship status and went to Nigeria to win its national championship and turn pro.
Few pros are impressed by him, from what I've read. They feel he's all fluff and no stuff, too lazy to get into contest shape.
-
Am I wrong or doesn't a guy have to actually compete and earn a title?

30,000 cals per day, what a joke. yates said something like he would have to have a toilet strapped to his ass and eating all day long.

According to last month's FLEX, this was a misstatement. In its "Fact...or Fiction" feature, Richards' alleged caloric consumption is Myth #9, "Victor Richards regularly consumes 30,000 calories daily".
FALSE.
Richards now contends that the famous claim was taken out of context, and that when he stated this, he was only estimating that 30,000 calories were the most he consumed in one day (due to the calorie-dense Nigerian foods he likes to eat.........Richards contends that his calories were typically in the high but not mind-boggling 6,000 to 8,000 range.
