Title: Vibration pads for muscle growth
Post by: THEBERG on July 25, 2006, 07:57:09 PM
Have any of you guys heard of power plate, it's a product that is a vibrating pad that you stand on and do exercises and is suppose to increase muscle tone, size, decrease fat, increase bone density.  I can beleive that you would get some sort of minimal reaction but it would be minimal and it cant be good for your involuntary muscles, would be the same as standing next to speakers at a rock concert.    What do you guys think of these pansy devices??

I second what Sir William said. My rear delts have always been lagging, but the power plate helped me bring them up bigtime. It's especially effective on smaller muscle groups like the delts, calves, and triceps.

Not bullshit mate.
They were doing studies using them at my university. They were recruiting people to take part in the experiments.  They were taking muscle biopsies etc.  The science behind it is very sound but it's still in its infancy and isnt something you'll be seeing cropping up in gyms anytime soon.

No that's different.

I think he's talking about this. From what i read, it is pretty good with building muscles because the workouts are very intense.

If that guy in the picture is the physical 'epitome' of someone who uses this device, I think I'll pass. I already have access to a swimming pool with my gym membership.  ::)

this was the company i was referring to but i think they must all be pretty similar, we had a exercise clinic open up last week here and there was a segement in the paper about how good it was so i looked it up and it's been around for a number of years. Myself and a mate are starting our own bussiness in the fitness industry and we have to compete with these variuops exercise fads, it is so annoying.

Actually you just might.  The company that makes the Power Plate pictured above has been marketing themselves pretty hard to the industry.  I've seen them with a very large presence at industry shows side by side with the stairmasters of the world and not in a 10x10 booth space either.
