Title: How many sandows should Big Lou have?
Post by: 240 is Back on July 26, 2006, 09:00:12 AM
yes, he is a selfish jerk who overcharges for an autograph

but, he did look decent next to Arnold onstage at the 75 Olympia, and he was still in his early 20s.  And after Arnold, we had scrubs like Zane, Franco, Bannout, and Dickerson winning titles.

If he hadn't split for TV bucks,

1) How many Olympia wins would he have today?
2) Would be be a bigger, smaller, or the same jerk he is today?

I'd ripped his balls and stick em to a statuette, and that would be His Sandow

I honestly believe that if he'd continued to compete he would of lost in 76 to franco (simply by virtue of the weiders saying thank you) then from 77 till retirement he could of continuing winning.

Arnold wouldnt of returned in the fiasco that was 1980.

Haneys reign would of begun the minute lou retired.

Theres photos of lou in his hercules days around the time of haney's reign and he looks contest ready and was only training for the films.

Imagine had in poured himself into training intensely from 77 onwards.

The sports great "what if"

I forgot the year - it was his second attempt at the Masters Olympia.  He should have won that.  He wa 315 on stage and very, very dry.  Could he have beaten Samir or Dickerson?  I think so.

I think lou coulda taken franco, samir and chris but Zane would be to hard for him.

None-he regressed physically from his best condition at the Universe to the '75 Olympia, so there's no history suggesting that he was going in the right direction. He didn't have the aggresivity or intelligence to turn it up, was flawed and didn't have the refinement or balance of some of the others guys who still lost to scrubs in the early 80s.

yeah but lou would have been doing everything they were doing, and when thin was in, lou would have ripped up too. he might have been gangly, sure.  But damn, imagine him staying on heavy gear another 10 years... Imagine what he'd have looked like at a muscular 28 years old in 1981... Franco would have been dwarfed.  Lou got what, 12th in 93 at the O?  And he was old then.  Dude had some incredible genetics.  I think he may not have gone undefeated, but I think he may have been able to get 6 Os.  his genetics and height, along with some muscle maturity, he would have been unstoppable.

Didn't have great shape, didn't have great refinement. Aesthetics ok, muscle maturity non-existent. Nothing in his persona suggests that he had the drive to take it to the next level he'd have had to get to.

There were about 10 other guys who were better than him through the years, who were never allowed to win for whatever political reasons.

Who knows...who cares. If he would have won ANY Mr. Olympia title he'd be charging $30 or maybe even $40 for an autograph next to the $20 he charges now the TOOL...

He didnt have the mindset to win the big one...he could have had it but he decided to meet Arnold at breakfast that morning while filming 'Pumping Iron' w/ his parents and was so Astronomically and Galacticaly and Supremely OWNED by Arnold...his driven warrior win at all costs mentality and spirit was shattered beyond expression and he was stripped of all dignity and self-respect by Arnold...Lou just never recovered from it.

Could be why he charges kids $20 just to walk past him...maybe he's redirecting his anger and embarassment from beings so Monumentally OWNED so hard that fateful morning...he takes it out on us. Food for though...if Arnold didnt PUNK him out and rip out any last positive emotion Lou felt for himself...maybe he would be giving away FREE autographs this day...

Lou should have as many Sandows as he does have: none.  His talents lay elsewhere, & he pursued them to the extent he could.  I doubt he will be able to do too many more expos, considering the ill will his actions have generated.

Correction on the above info about Lou's last competition: it was in 1994 at the first Masters Olympia.  He placed second to Robbie Robinson.  He stated (word for word) "I wuz robbed" after the show & vowed to come back the next year & take it.  But reportedly his wife told him she would divorce him if he did any more competitions, & he didn't.

Nah, I think he's a major prick, as do most people.  Hell, when I emailed him about the story that he didn't sign a kid's autograph, he threatened to sue me if I ever asked again.

I just like to give him the benefit of the doubt and wonder if.

It was then and when Arnold told his parent how out of shape he is and how he missed his timing and why bother because in another month...Arnold will be bigger to!

All...every bit of basic human self-resect and dignity that Lou may have had was completely vaporized out of his system. Arnold OWNED Louie right then and there in the most SAVAGE way an OWNING can be put on a person. I said it once and even 240 may have said this...that OWNING was so FIERCE and FERCIOUS...it makes all the stupid shit we do on here to people like Adam Reiche or Derek Anthony or Vince Goodrum or Chick is all nickle/dime shit. It's all dust in the wind compared to what Lou felt that morning.

You can see it now...we even talk about it all the time. Lou is suffering from Post Traumatic OWNING Disorder...thats why he treats everyone like the way he does. This is his only therepy, this is his only way to ease the pain of that  atom bomb dropped on him that one fateful morning. Maybe we should lay off a little and give Louie some space...

We'll see more of this.

We currently have BBers on these boards who are owned in front of thousands.  There is no telling how this will influence their actions.  Did message board ownings contribute to Titus' descent into drugs and murder?  Did an inability to deal with "you have small forearms" comments lead a certain Jersey King to use gh to the point of Palumboism?  Will the valid questioning of Bob Chic's actions as athletes rep actions lead him to embarass himself time and time again?  Time will only tell...
Title: Re: How many sandows should Big Lou have?
Post by: Blockhead on July 26, 2006, 03:09:01 PM

I concur, 240...this is only the tip of the iceberg here. That King in NJ even declared publically and officially that we(the bucktooth jackasses here on 'the internet') gives him motivation to get bigger/better. Probably his way of trying to silence 'us'. His physique is now in Stage-2 Palumboism headed quickly to Stage 3 if he isnt careful.

I'm starting to think right before his heavy sets or right before he loads his pins...he thinks about the ownings and ball breaking he expierenced all over cyberspace and uses it to drive him to extremes.

Craig and his wife may have also decended into a drug and sex infused mad downward spiral that led to murder and arson...due to the embarassments and self-ownings. No different than Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Years of monumental ownings over the years from their peers caused them to REACT.

TheBlockHead character wasnt around when the now real legit medical ailment known as 'palumboism' was first discovered, studied and established here on getbig...I dont know who first launched the investigation to put it on the medical map...now I am seeing a new psychological disorder rising up from getbig/internet OWNINGS. It needs a name, though...

Maybe a possible thread can be started, 240...

Bertil Fox

Come Olympia day Robby was smooth. In 1979 Mike did give Frank a run for the money but its not like Mike was a clearly better and should have beat Frank. In 1983 there is no way Bertil should have beaten Samir. Bertil was big but not in the shape Samir achieved. He is narrow in the shoulders and posed for shit. Samir was a world beater on that day.

yes i have seen it, and Bertil was IMPRESSIVE. but his size didn't equal the total package that samir brought. and the judges agreed. you might be the one guy that argues in favor of Bertil Fox for 1983. and it doesn't matter whether you agree or not really, samir has the sandow either way.

I always felt the younger (late 1960's / early 70's) Zane was pretty impressive - he packed pretty thick, dense muscle on his small frame. But as time went on (late 70's / early eighties), his physique lost that quality. I have heard that he supposedly had to largely forgo the power movements and train much lighter in later years due to injuries. I don't know how true that is, but his physique in later competitive years looked somewhat frail and swimmer-like IMO when compared to the more herculean guys like Robinson, Mentzer, Viator, Coe, Fox, etc. In his later competitive years he was not at all what I would consider an ideal Mr O type of physique to be.

I felt somewhat the same way (to a lesser extent) about Bannout. He had a great back, good overall aesthetics, and was rock hard in '83. But his relative lack of overall size and freakish propotions (other than the back) when compared to a mass monster like Fox (who was also quite hard and had much better proportions than most of today's big-bellied "mass monsters") wasn't really what I thought / think about in terms of a "Mr Olympia" type physique.

But Bannout was much closer to my subjective opinion of an "ideal" Mr O type physique than Zane or Dickerson were, and he was definitely at his alltime best in '83. I'm not familiar enough with the finer points of judging to comment on how much posing affects placing, but I would have a hard time placing Fox any lower than 2nd (if not 1st) that day (if I had been a judge). As for Fox's shoulder width, I don't recall Bannout having a particularly wide shoulder structure either. Bannout's back was definitely better overall of course.

Once again he leaves out 1980-1982, because those years don't happen to support his biased, one-dimensional arguments.

I personally don't care how much trivia & excuses are thrown out there, bottom line Robinson & Padilla had to win somewhere, and arguably Fox, Szkalak & Mentzer in lieu of the tier-B guys who won such as Columbu, Dickerson, & Bannout. Zane didn't deserve 3 wins either.

Forget the recycled trivia ("Robinson was smooth, Padilla was washed out" blah, blah, blah) that  is hauled out when needed in the same way bible-thumpers evokes religious passages. Looking back it's crystal clear they got screwed & agree with this assessment, hence their departures/retirements. ;D
