Title: Was Serge Nubret nuts?
Post by: Bluto on July 27, 2006, 11:18:27 AM
Here's some trivia:

~Trained up to 5 hours at the gym.

~ Every bodypart up to 1,5 hours.

~ Doing situps as cardio, 2000 reps.

~ No resting days, Maybe 5-6 days away from the gym in a year.

~ Eating ONCE a day, at night, for 3 hours eating 5000 calories.

~ During the day, no food just water and fruitjuice.

People make bodybuilding way harder than it needs to be with their overtraining, post workout shake, nitrogen balance theories.

Eat and workout.  Eat more and workout to gain.  Eat less and workout to lose.

hahha what a concept.

I train by not counting reps or sets.  I just pick a weight and use it.

I have many interesting diet tricks as well.

You should have your own sticky "My road to Mr Getbig" where you could tell about your training, diet, post pictures and videos from the gym etc.

I'm sure it would be popular.

Some of us OCDers have to count the reps.....if I dont exceed what I have done over two workouts on something...I have to change it up.  I just cant go in without knowing what I did the last workout or two.  PIssed me off to no end when I lost my notebook too.  Some people can get away with it...I know I cant....

1/2 lb of rice though is 50 grams of carbs.

The meat is a bit much, but I could see 6 lbs seeing as he treated the gym like a fulltime job.

Serge Nubret Training

I'm trying here to give both of you the answer about my "training cardio type"
first a lot of people think that I was training with very light weight. No it is not exactly correct.

I used to train with a weight I could do about 12 to 15 reps for about 6 to 10 set with only 30 to 45 seconds of rest between set. About 4 to 6 different exercises by muscle groups.

Try this and you'll realize that the weight you'll be using will become heavy very fast.
I was using my abs training as a cardio cession, I prefer to do abs during one hour no stop that stay on a treadmill for one hour

Best regards

Serge Nubret

My comment. I personally observed Serge using this kind of training when he trained for several months at Gold's Gym Redondo Beach, CA in the early nineties.

Must have good endurance, 30 seconds of rest isn't much... IF pump plays a role, it sounds good.

Yeah, you have to do what works for you. I'm a little nuts, too. I do each part once a week. 6 work outs, push/pulls/legs. My goal is to make the part I'm working as sore as possible. I notice a connection between soreness and growth. Then, I give that part a week to recover.

Seriously you're not going anywhere near your potential with that kinda pussy training you're doing.

Seriously, Intensity is Intensity. Whether I am doing high reps or going heavy I always train hard with 100% physical and mental effort  The one thing that Serge said in that interview that rings true is (I'm paraphrasing) "your brain is your strongest muscle". Arnold preached the same thing and I buy into that philosophy. You can see a million douchebags muscling up heavy weights and getting nothing out of it because they don't have the mental connection to their muscles. All they are trying to do is move weight, they are not trying to GROW. I know these thing because I am an expert bodybuilder.
