Give me your honest opinions. As those who know me know, I'm open to all opinions and thoughts, but I've still yet to find a major flaw on him.
If there was one problem he has it's consistency. Sometimes he seems to be holding that film of water and it blurs out his amazing grainy muscle quality. Otherwise.. critique away. Tell me where you see problems, please.

I remember when MuscleMag International did a commentary and listed a group of bodybuilder had potential to be Mr Olympia and those that didnt have any potential of ever becoming Mr Olympia.
Shawn Ray, Cutler, Coleman, Nasser, etc....
The writer of the Article said that Coleman doesnt have the genetics to ever be Mr. Olympia but had great work ethics, being a professional bodybuilder and full time cop...the writer said Ronnie would never be Mr. Olympia...
We know Ronnie won Mr Olympia and the rest is history....never boaught MuscleMag International after that. Credibility was ruined..I wish I remembered who that writer was...
Do any of remember this?
I just have a feeling someone bigger and better will emerge that we havent heard of yet will become Mr. Olympia...that is after Ronnie retires or will ever retire...

In terms of potential, i feel martinez is up there as the best.
However, for bodybuilding, i believe it would be in the best interest for the sport if gunter was promoted to the top position of the sport and not jay.

Dennis James just has too many weaknessess.. starting with his crappy proportions to his condidtioning to his weak mind. Don't get me wrong he is a monster and looks pretty crazy but all he has for showparts are shoulders and arms. His lats are too high, backdouble bicep reminiscent of gary strydom, quads are shit probably because of his shitty form and even Johnnie Jackson dwarfs him on quads. Chest looks really awkward. Ass to big. Waist of an alien. Gym prowess in on the freacking machines lol! Should I go on for you?

These pics are 1 day out of the New York. As he said in PBW he didn’t want to carb load (which would have been a very good idea) but just before the show he did and I think that screwed him up.
Everyone always says Dennis looks awesome 2 weeks out but at the night of the show; he just looses it. it is cause insulin manipulation. What I see is he carb loads with insulin and just sacrifices the condition. Same what happened to Gustavo in last years ASC. I think Milos’ boys always loose condition because of that.
With the legal issues he had he will never be Mr. O. I think he is lucky that they allow him to compete the IFBB. And the distinct midsection will always hold him back.

I REALLY didn't know he had problems carbing up, and now that you mention it, I remember hearing about his gear-related indictment in Thailand involving the United States DEA.

But let me ask you this: Since they've allowed other pro's that have had drug issues (some even DURING the contest. eg- Paul Dillets cramps and insulin ON STAGE problems & Jay Cutler's failed diuretics test come to mind right off the bat) why would there be any problems with allowing James to win? Sure he got in drug trouble, but here's a list of pretty successful BB'ers that have/still having successful careers:

Dillet
St. Cloud
Martinez
...and I'm sure there are more.

I don't believe so (winning the O). He is one of the greats but his midsection has been an issue as he has gained more mass which throws off his shape and taper.
Good post above, lots of guys can get into trouble with the carb up methods.

And a consistent problem when it comes to nailing the conditioning. His 2 weeks out pics are you usually mind boggling... :o :o If he could manage somehow to bring that on stage I think he'll be top 3 anyday. :o

his quads lack separation, his lats aren't getting any lower, his mid-section is distended, and he peaks too early
the major problem he seems to have is with his quads. they're big and all but lack the deep separation they need to win the title

bull shit..the guys stomach distention is not like jay cutlers who stomach was really bad at the olympia 2005..dennis james has a real tight and sharp look to his body..he is thick as hell and i think so the guy has no flaws wat so ever..damn his waist looked tight as hell at the 2005 mr O.most of u guys r just asswipes..i have never seen any stomach distention on big dennis...the guy is thick as a rock and i think he is totally flawless..the fact is james is totally overlooked and this is the only reason big james is not in the top 5...i feel bad for james that a guy with a waist tight as his and the amount of muscle he carries on his frame and i think so IFBB is marking of down for some reason..maybe due to his legal issues and i still have alot of expections with this guy and he is definetly an olympia winner..he just needs to wait for the right time and the right moment..his time will come very soon..

dennis has a great build, however he will not win the O due to the fact their are several BB's who are more complete.Ronnie, Jay, Dexter, Gustavo,Victor to name but a few. Maybe even Phil Heath.
Also Dennis tends to overspill and this really hurts his physique. However i do concede that if he could nail conditioning he could be top 3 material.

i think he was busted for ecstacy. some say he was framed as he was sent to his gym something like 18 pills and that is federal. so the boys from the usa came to get him.

Very good point bro, I never even thought of that. From what I've read throughout this thread is he seems to have a problem coming in sharp, but that magic "2 weeks out" photo shoot is ALWAYS sick, I don't think anyone can deny that...

Very good point also. Again with the conditioning problem he seems to have and it DOES make it hard to come in at your peak if it was 2 weeks before the show. Also solid point that there are other good candidates out there too, namely a 100% ON V. Martinez.
One more question... do you really think that a pro's record has ANYTHING to do with his placings in a show? By record I don't mean "Is he a winner at other shows or not" I meant drugs or criminal charges. I COULD be wrong but didn't Victor have an issue with some narcotics a while back? Ecstacy or maybe some gear? I know, I know, he hasn't won the Olympia yet but when you sit down and think about it, both 'heirs to the throne' Jay (failed diuretics test) and Victor (selling ecstacy and/or juice[?]) Either way, does a criminal record prevent a competitor from placing high?

This is the way I see it.
Coleman wins this year, Cutler wins it in 07...maybe goes 2 more years....but I really think Richard Jones is a future mr. olympia....SUPERB genetics....reminds me a lot of a young ronnie coleman...very humble, very hard working, well spoken.....oh...and a great back to build on 8)

Not sure who'll be the next big thing but I'm thinking there is some other genetic freak out there who is in hiding now...being groomed...

Dennis lacks the structure to be Mister O. Better choices would be Melvin or Victor. It's been said before that you need a great back to win the O and Melvin and Victor have two of the best in the game.
Dennis has a mean most muscular and looks good in silhouette and that's about it as far as looking impressive in poses.
His front double bi is weak.
His side chest is average.
His rear double bi is weak.
His abs and thighs is weak.
His most muscular is awesome.

Freeman is the Future of this sport. Waist of a MIddle weight and packed on the muscle the judges asked of him and can present him self with out huffing and puffing. Dennis looks great - sometimes - However Mr. O is for the Incredible.
Dennis is Scottie Pippen. You need him but he is not the superstar to move the sport ahead.

The author of this post must be new to not realize any of his "major" flaws. First and foremost...high lats. Secondly, inability to show up dialed in condition wise. Third, stomach distension.
That pretty much spells it out. He'll never be a Mr Olympia, but that doesn't mean a damn thing. He's a great bodybuilder and he has a lot of good things going for him physique wise. But a Mr O he ain't...mainly, due to those high lats.

Good post, but I havent seen anyone mention one person who will be the next Mr. O and probably win it more times than Coleman. Phil Heath is going to be the next big Mr. O, you can bet the bank on it. There hasnt been a BB'er in yrs who can compare to him. He is almost perfect.
