How long did it take everyone to reach 6 plates on flat bench? Of course, bodyweight plays a major role. I personally haven't hit it yet. Hopefully in the next 2 months, it will happen. ;D

six plates per side or six plates total?
-
has to be 6 per side as 3 per side is pretty much the starting point
-
sarcasm doesnt bench. he does cable flyes.

yeah the majority of the worlds population can bench 315 for reps. no big deal. so therefore he must be talking about 585 lbs. yeah man you should be there by now. if you can't bench 585 you might as well give up. ::)

3 years of natural training and lots of eating to bench 315 at a bodyweight of 215...i started out at a bodyweight of 170 pounds and i could bench 165 in the beginning.

i remember back in highschool my benching best was 180 and hitting 200 was the shit...
now i eat 315 for breakfast lunch and dinner! it all depends on how bad you want it nad how hard you train for it. For some its' easier than others...but the statement that most people can bench 315 is a load of shit...even fewer bench 350 or better. It's taken me years....

Yeah, 6 plates total guys....I would say out of 200 or so people at my gym, only 10 or so can bench 315. We have a couple guys that are 5'5 with 12" arms that can do more...At 6'2, my arms are frickin long as hell.
I am currently at 300lbs on flat bench. I am working on incline lately and did 205 for 9 reps yesterday. I would love to hit 275 on incline sometime in the near future.

I done it and I am a couple inches taller than you. Do some heavy negatives and you will get there in no time!

I hate to see how you load the bar to 300.... if you can do 300 you can probably load 315 and squeeze 1 or 2 with spotters (I suggest 1 per side unless you know someone who could actually help you)

what purpose would that serve? if he needs "spotters" for one or two reps there is no point. the whole point of lifting is to do the entire rep yourself. a spotter should be there for safety in case you fuck up, not to lift the weight for you.

I remember the first time I did 6 plates a side but everybody got mad because I had used all the 10's...
Really for me the milestone that sticks out was the frist time I 225 flat bench for reps since I was young and for a long time 200 was a dream.Having long arms is a bitch to heavy benching, but I would rather be tall then short..:)

Wow, somebody keeping it real :) I didn't even try 315 for a long time, just did higher reps and would go up to 275 and then rep out with 225, partly due to back injury and also due to no consistence workout partner. I started working out with a friend in Feb. and I am now going up to 335 for 4 or 5 reps and then dropping down to 275 to rep out. I am also tall 6'4 and about 204 and 335 still feels like a house to me, sooo much more stress on my joints. I am also doing 110's on the incline dumbells, and before the workout partner, I would usually just do the 80's for 3 sets. Having someone push me has made a real difference for me.

I agree with the partner thing....It's amazing how the mind works! I can only go up to 100's on dumbells as that is the highest my gym has. I figure if I can get 10-12 solid reps with those, I am good with that!
-
if you can do 300, you can probably do 315 just be safe
-
Try switching up your routine. Get away from the barbell weights and do dumbell flat and incline bench. Also do some skull crushers to work on your triceps. Alot of it is food too, Eat PBJ 8 times a day. You will hit it in two weeks with that routine.

Yeah Baby!!!! Did 225 x 10 today and then 275 x 3....Once I get 275 for 5 I am going for 315! Felt frickin good today...
Yeah, yeah-Many on here can do much more, but to me, it is a major accomplishment. I am not the youngest guy at the gym, work tons of hours and have a wife and 3 kids....If I could spend more time in the gym, I know I could do better....
-
Took me a good couple of years to get to 315...I got as high as 320 for a one rep max then my workout partner broke a rib and I started slacking off then eventually quit all together. Just started back working out about a month ago..did 255 today pretty easy. I was stuck at 280 for awhile before but tried MAX-OT for about 3 months and went up to 320...good luck

I have been stuck back at 315-335 for about a year.I think u really have to train and focus everything to push towards 405lbs. I plan to radically change my workout com 1 sept get back to the mid 3's. It takes time. I guess u have to decide what u want to be..a power lifter or a body builder.

Just keep it up. I feel that the 225 - 315 period is a tuff one to get through. Most guys never make it to 315. You have to really train for it. Eat, Lift, Sleep. It all makes a difference. I just put up 315 for 8 reps yesterday ( I don't touch my chest, I just go down til the back of my arms are at parrel, touching your chest is very damaging to your shoulders ). You will reach 315 in no time. The best part is once you put it up, you break a mental barrier.
-
I am planning on attempting it in 2 weeks....I am taking a frickin video camera too!! ;D
-

Uh, okay-- like now I feel totally inferior hearing this-- LOL ::)
I guess I better start bringing it!
-
lol man with that enthusiasm you'll be there in no time!
then you'll get 315 for 4...then 6..then 10
and then your working rep range will be in the 300's! HELL YEAH BABY!

Pressing 300+ while weighing only 200 is doable. It's not a magic number. Just take your time.

I run a gym that has 500 members and 3 people can bench 315, I being one of them. Now, it's more of an upscale gym but it still has regular gym-type people.
-
i have only seen 1 person under 200 pounds at my local gym press 315 without the spotter doing half the work...

benching really depends on genetics... i have been lifting for 14 years and the heaviest i can go is 405 for 5 reps... still increasing slowly... i am 28, so i expect to be able to lift more in the future, but my training partner can lift 405 for 12 reps.... he is the same age and weights 50lbs less than me...
