Title: Milos comments on 1991 Lee Haney AND Dillet freezing onstage
Post by: Stavios on August 01, 2006, 08:49:02 PM
I was at Mr. Olympia 1988 in LA and I saw the show.
Thrust me show was over the same second Lee stepped on the stage and turned towards the judges. As good as Rich was he could only get second place, again.
Well, that is only my opinion.
Than 1991 I made the Olympia debut and I remember the hype. Shawn was saying before the show that he wants Haneys title, house, car and couple of other things. Labrada was very vocal as well. Great Brit was making some splash and Haney just signed contract with Twinlab. Everybody was expecting that this time Lee would not pull it off.
I remember back stage everyone was pumping up and Haney was just relaxed talking to some people. Probably closing some business deal.
Than when officials warned as that we have 10 minutes to be on stage, Lee casually approached the mirror and slowly took off his jacket.
What happened next you could see nowadays in the movies when director freezes the scene, there is absolute silence and you can almost hear your heart beating!
Everybody was shocked!
Shawn immediately lost 5 pounds, Lee started retaining water and Dorian lost his breath.
I know, I was there!

Was Lee THAT impressive that even dorian was scared ?
IMO it was pretty close between dorian and lee and I have a hard time imagining this scene

I mean, Haney was big but he was not "colemanesque"

At the time, Haney was the "colemanesque" standard.

He was at his all time best, looking harder that year than he did in the past.  I think it was Yates who pushed him to that.  IIRC, Yates' tan was running that night and it looked bad, although it didn't appear from pics that Yates was far off (if at all) from Haney.

Yates was 239lbs and Haney was 250lbs . this was the contest that Haney said he first learned how to peak , he went out with style boy and on top a class act.

There was no contest...LEE was so dominant it wasn't even funny.

He killed everyone the same second he took his shirt off.
Shawn aged 10 years, lost his hair and retained Pacific Ocean in the matter of seconds...

Until than he was proudly posing in front of the mirror waiting to see what Lee looks like.
After he saw...he deflated about 15 pounds and looked for the exit sign...

OK - I am little exaggerating - but not by much...

Milos comments again: When Dillet froze onstage !!!

Paul Dillet is my friend and I am sure he wouldn't mind my interpretation of what happened.
I believe that accident happened 1994 or 1995 in Ohio at Arnold Classic.
Paul was one of the favorites and he looked great day before and morning of the show.
During the first round it was apparent that show is going to be between Paul and Kevin.
Paul was dry to the bone and in all honesty -best I have ever seen him.

Second round started and it was turn for Paul to do 7 mandatory poses.
In his first pose front double biceps he looked great with exception that his eyes looked like a slot machine. I was just waiting for cherries to pop out.
Next was lat spread and as everyone knows Paul is a master of making his lats disappear in this one.
Side chest was excellent and audience went wild.
Than he turned around and show really begun.
He extended one leg showing a calf (normal thing to do) and than he raised one arm (left one). He started waving and I thought I was in all Western movie witnessing cowboy saying goodbye to the girl that is on the train.
Audience was patiently waiting wondering what the hell was he really doing UNTIL he turned around and everyone could see painful grimace on his face.
There he was standing, locked up with one arm up, stomach protruded due to severe cramp, eyes closed, screaming...
Four people had to carried him off the stage.

Later I spoke to him and he told me about that unforgettable experience.
He said he was taking several diuretics and he did not know when to stop.
I know how Paul is, and I can tell you that he probably took about half dozen of different diuretics toping everything off with injectable lasix on the day of the show!
After first round he was point ahead of Kevin, thinking where is he going to spend $90000.00!

Now, the way Milos speak, we can assume that Paul took everything in sight.

But our friend Lee said Paul could load up a syringes of winstrol and "forget" to take it for a couple of days

who is right ?!

Where do you find this stuff?

I know I told this to someone (or wrote?) but I don't remember who (where)?
It must be on my board somewhere - isn't it?

I think Lees great, but theres no way he uses, "just a bit of deca in the offseason". Maybe he doesn't use as much as the other guys - but none of us are stupid or that gullable. [hes got the best arms in history though - so he can do what he wants].

Hahaha, exactly. One look at Paul in his best shape and you know there were plenty of drugs in his system. I don't care how good his genetics are... more than a few drugs were used.
