This should be an interesting show. There are a number of competitors who deserve to take a pro card here.  (Leo Ingram - can you feel the vibe)..

Vince Taylor is guest posing - whoa - on the same day as the PDI's NOC - lots of talk and debate on this coming up.

Or will someone come in and shock everyone like Fahkri did at last year's USAs. Will Hollywood Ferguson try his hand at NA or wait until Nationals?

I wonder if Marko Savoleinen would have a shot at these championships. I mean, it seems winning a pro show, in Europe, is harder than a the U.S...

How the hell is Vince Taylor guest posing when he signed a contract to compete the same night in the NOC?

I guess he wants to get sued.

All international amateur IFBB contests are suppose to be 3 years drug free.  Will this one be?

Isn't this what the PDI is supposed to be about? Being able to do other shows?
I guess it was all just talk.

Man is Lee ever going to get it from both ends!

Way to go Wayne!

Vince will have a little money you can sue him for.  I'm sure he's getting paid something to guest pose that night.

Hey Chick I know the NPC is not your thing but who is in charge of picking up dates for the contest ?

Many Canadians are pissed off by this cause they only have the nationals to qualify and it is the same day  ???

my understanding is that Gary Udit tried to work with the Canadian chairman, but the Canadian chairman scheduled it the same weekend anyway.

yesterday the cbbf.ca website posted the following:

Qualification Rules for North American Championships

The Top-3 positions at any of the CBBF national events, meaning the Figure and Fitness (IFBB Pro Card selection), the National World Qualifier (Doping Controlled event and potential selection to Team Canada) or the Canadian Bodybuilding Championships (IFBB Pro Card selection) qualify an athlete for international events, ie. the North American Championships.

It doesn't put a time limit on qualifying, so probably any past top 3 contestant can enter.

Then the Canadian Chairman sucks! Maybe he wants to keep the level of competition high and keep his athletes in canada

I have been told by the IFBB that FINALLY, in 2007, the CANADIAN BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIPS will fall on a different day than the NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. The CANADA is on August 18, 2007 and the NORTH AMERICA is on August 31/September 1, 2007.

THAT could make the NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS into the show I always thought it could be. A contest with the incredible Canadian competitors going up against the US and Mexican guys. One more shot for the Canadian folks to win a pro card!

The Canadian Figure competitors have already done well there! Jane Awad and Nina Luchka both won their pro cards at the NORTH AMERICA!

We have our dates laid out years ahead. Hopefully the folks in Canada will continue to schedule the CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS on a separate date. The 2008 NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIPS is on August 29/30, 2008.

Vince Taylor will be an excellent addition to an already exciting event!

I think that Canadians are better served competing in the North Americans than they are at the Canadian Nationals. No disrespect intended, but when was the last time a Canadian National Championship winner made an impact on the competitive ranks of the IFBB?

It's most famous member turned pro ten years ago, based largely on the supplement company that employed him.

The Canadians that have competed at the NAC and turned pro there have done rather well for themselves, such as Nimrod King (1988), Paul Dillet (1992), Dave Fisher (1993).

Even if a competitor were to win a pro card at the Canadian Nationals, he should try his hand at the North American title, before turning pro. It certanly can't hurt matters.

One thing the CBBF should definitely STOP doing is giving out two pro cards, especially giving one to someone who didn't even win his weight class.

I think this guy is doing the North Americans.

Shitty lighting, but he looks good.

Anyone know the favorites this year?

It's early but already shaping up to be another good contest.

Possibly Leo Ingram and Abbas Khatami in the Open Men? Should be some other USA Championships guys making the trip to Cleveland.

Lance Johnson in the Over 40?

the IFBB is not very big in Mexico, not very well organized.  NABBA, WABBA and Musclemania are all there, but no one org currently dominates.

the athlete who has competed the most in international contests recently is Francisco Rios (http://musclememory.com/show.php?a=Rios+Vega,+Francisco)

Is the IFBB presence even in Mexico?  Can somebody get a pro card from Mexico?  I see alot of people from other countries some of which are much smaller in population get their pro card.  But I haven't seen any pro from Mexico.  I saw some pro from Brazil in one of the live webcasts the other day but none from Mexico.
