With all the recent posts about deaths from steroids, etc, here is a recent studies findings on which drugs are the most dangerous. Thought it might be of interest to some people.

In the UK anabolic steroids are unclassified, while in the US, they're schedule III in most of the country, schedule II in New York and as of this year, California.

it wasn't a list of the biggest threats, but a list showing the relative dangers when abused.  misusing oxy contin certainly seems more dangerous than using crystal meth.

'Mr Willis said the only way to get "an accurate and up to date classification system" was to "remove the link with penalties and just focus on harm", adding that this meant social consequences as well as harm to the user. '

ok, it still could be argued that oxy-contin is higher on such a list than crystal meth

when the article that this thread is about says prescription pain killers, they pretty much mean things containing oxycodone, morphine or codeine.   All are opioids and are derivatives of what is found in opium.  Percodan, percocet, and many other pain killers contain oxycodone along with other chemicals, but those other chemicals make it difficult to abuse.   Oxycontin is pure oxycodone in time released form.  that's why oxycontin became such a problem.

Abusing opioids is much worse than abusing stimulants.  getting off opiods is much harder than getting off stimulants.
