Title: Vinny Galanti
Post by: VGalanti on August 02, 2006, 07:13:22 PM
First getbig had rumors of me having a hockey injury....i never played hockey in my life.

Then you hear about my partial tearing of my left bicep tendon....TRUE

Everyone saw me and Rhino going at it last week......thats over, we made up.

I approached Wayne on my own back in January, and we met at the Arnold Classic to talk about his plans for the PDI.
I loved what he had to say, I was all for this new venture.

I even had lunch with Vince Taylor at the Arnold, and Vince had an excitement to his voice about the whole thing.

I then talked to Jim Manion and Steve Weinberger about me turning 40 soon, and trying something new....I wanted to talk to them in person.

The last couple of months I had a bad feeling about what I was going to do, I could not put my finger on it, and was unsure of my decision.
After  the PDI  Florida and Vegas Pro qualifiers had been canceled, and then learning the Spain portion of the European contest was canceled, I was getting nervous.

I have been in bodybuilding and traveling around the world since 93, so I called old friends that are involved in bodybuilding overseas and nobody could tell me any info on any PDI show in Hungry, Slovakia or England....now I was really nervous.

Wayne emailed me and Jack about going on PDI radio last week to air out our differences because the fans wanted to hearing from us...or something like that.

I didn't like that idea.....and would have no part of "he said she said stuff"
Now I was kinda glad I injured my bicep....as Dave Palumbo said to me.....a blessing in disguise.

I could be totally wrong about my gut feeling, and I wish everyone in the PDI well....but I don't know if it is really for me.

The NPC has been my home since the first time I stepped on stage in 84, winning the teen Jersey Cup.

Right now I'm training very light, training around the bicep....the swelling is gone and I have full range of motion....the only thing that really hurts the arm is  trying to stabilize a dumbell or barbell....I have to stick with machines for a while.

LOOK FOR ME AT THE NPC MASTERS NATIONALS NEXT YEAR.....OR MAYBE SOONER......HMMMMMMM.... .LOL

I'll let you guys pick that one apart.....LOL

I can see a GIFT being presented to Vinny, to thank him for staying true to the (NPC/IFBB) cause. Bob knows all about receiving gifts.. doesn't he Lee?

That's what I've been telling you all along along, Vince.  I'm glad the message got through to you.  You followed your heart and you've made the right decision.

Why get sucked under and ruin your career having a so called given "PDI PRO career" ruin you when you can get your IFBB Pro Card at the Master Nationals next year that you can obviously win.

You've spent so much time struggling and fighting your way to the top of the NPC.  I've seen you over the years as everyone has getting onstage dueling it out and was on the verge of finally getting the one thing you've wanted for so long.

Sometimes when you're reaching for the golden carrot on a string, some other person will bait you in with one with no strings attached.  But you gotta remember that sometimes what you don't see is what you may get.  And I'm glad you saw it for what it was.

I wish you well and enjoy your golden carrot when you bust them up at the Master's Nationals

Well all I can say is that if Vinny wins the Nationals, it would be a good career move for Stan McQuay to declare for the PDI, renege, and thus guarantee himself the Nationals next year. Now that's what I call a PLAN.

I'll be in touch with you on changes, but along with throw-up conditioning, it will also be a throw-up strength program that will include sand bags, 200-400lbs tractor tires, sleds, kettlebells, etc, etc, etc. It's along the same lines as I train my athletes.
I was told by a cop friend of mine that about 60-75% of police recruits simply fail because they cannot pass the physical agility test, but they pass the written part

Help me understand.  When you get your pro card, what does that mean exactly...in monetary terms?  When you get signed to a pro team, it constitutes a career and usually a contract, pretty much setting you up for life.  I don't understand plugging away as a "sport" which requires no skill and pretty much at the end of the road, is just more drugs most likely.  Where does the satifsaction lie here?  When talent and pure effort is required to be the best at something, I have understanding and even admiration for something like that, but bodybuilding has neither.  Help me understand.

I do find it interesting to all this talk about becoming a pro BB.  Whether a PDI of IFBB pro what does that mean.  A title of being a pro.  As Croatch says it doesn;t mean anything.  No guarantees of anything.  What it actually does it make it so you spend more money than you make.  To be a successful pro you have to do thedrug routines they do or you get left in the dust.  And in most cases you are left in the dust anyway. It's nice saying you are a pro but in reality it is just a title.

Chic maybe you can get a "Bonus" paid to any person turning pro.  SInce so many of you try to compare BB with Baseball, football, basketball or whatever they get signing bonuses when they turn pro.  This would be awesome if you could get this.  Maybe a $5,000 signing bonus.  The IFBB definitely has the money to do that.

Sometimes the pro card is just the icing,it's then being in demand to guest pose which vinny certainly has done successfully.sell pic's ,videos, and the supplement and photo contract's ,it add's up to enough to supplement the contest prep somewhat, not all pro's have cutler, coleman contracts.same in boxing heavyweights make few million or more a fight, smaller classes 500,000 to a million,it's the belief your one of the best.you can only do with what you have,it's all in what you do with it.vinny has done that.

Vinny, good luck wherever you compete.  You have a very balanced physique that should be rewarded.

I say athletes turn pro in most sports for pride and some for pride and $ both.  As stated, you can get more endorsements, guest posing, higher personal training $, etc being a pro than an amateur...but in BBing, its mostly about pride.

Vinny is a great guy and is a great representative of the sport. Sometimes we make decisions and we have this slight gut feeling that it might not be a wise decision, and we go ahead any with the decision. What Vinny's friend "Dave Palumbo" said was true. Vinny's arm problem "could have been a blessing in disguise"

Whatever decision Vinny's makes with his bodybuilding career, he has friends that will support his decision.

There ain't much air left in the PDI balloon now.

I'm guessing that guy with the muslim name (Sami El-Haddad?) is the next to leave.

In the end, there may only be a bunch of no-gooders and a guest posing by Lee Priest left for the NOC.

Hey the NOC and PDI will be fine.  The only clear sign of its demise will be if Vince gets his pro card or is asked to guest pose.  Then it is a certain death.  But at least quick

EPIC NAME DROPPING!

Everyone saw me and Rhino going at it

I approached Wayne on my own back in January,

I even had lunch with Vince Taylor at the Arnold,

I then talked to Jim Manion and Steve Weinberger

as Dave Palumbo said to me.....a blessing in disguise.

Right from the outset it's been clear that the European shows were all smoke and mirrors just as the amateur qualifying shows were.

Did Wayne tell you the date of the radio broadcast?

Maybe 240 could tell us when the first broadcast will be?

I think people should judge pdi after their show

they deserve support for taking on the ifbb

Kevin, announcing PDIradio broadcast dates is not my department.  You can email Wayne DeMilia if you would like the broadcast schedule.  His email address is  prodivisioninc@yahoo.com

There should be some new info about the English Pro shortly, Kev.  Patience, brother :)

About 2 months ago, it was all set...i was supposed to be the first interview.
I had set aside time on 3 sep nights, and each night it was canceled, i had to cancel clients to make it home...that is when I started to get pissed.

i wish everyone the best in the pdi, but when learning that the florida and vegas qualifiers had been canceled, then the big talk of doing a trade show in spain for a few days before the spain contest, that we were able to make money by selling pictures and doing seminars....canceled
then to find out that italy was not on the schedule too....so 2 out of 3 qualifies gone, and 2 out of 5 pro europe shows gone.

mechanical problems...240 needed a device for the radio broadcast,he had to go out and buy it on his own, and then couldn't find one, then had to order one...in the end, no interviewe, the way it went down was VERY frustrating and unprofessional

No wonder you decided to split!
It's easy to see why so few people have faith in the PDI.
Maybe Isaac could give 240 a few tips on how to produce an internet radio show?

I have a reputation in the NPC, Chic and Shawn were trying to explain THAT TO ME FROM THE BEGINING, and I just wouldn't listen.
The PDI maybe a success, I may never get a procard with the IFBB.....we never know what the future holds. But when the main guy can not give you a straight answer as to whats going on....you start to think your talking to a car salesmen.

Again, I wish everyone well that is involved in the PDI....comp is good for business.

Vinny;  I've been following Bodybuilding for over 10 years.  Never missed an issue of FLEX or MM2K, Ironman ect...  I've lost count of how many shows I've seen through the years.  I make my living in this industry.    Before this PDI- IFBB thing came up, I've never herd much of you.  Maby the big fish in a small pond syndrome or something.  I could tell you every top 10 bodybuilder that year and the top 2 or 3 NPC competitors.  Now not only the bodybuilding world knows who you are, but Get Big and more.    Even though you never will do a PDI show, they brought your name out of the pack and into the mainstream.  For that you should be grateful to them.  I just wish polotics weren't involved and you could compete in any show you wanted to.  It's us, the fan who loose.

If you think I'd comment on a business matter, you're crazy.

I'll argue politics and sport improvement for hours.

But I like to keep em separated.

Radio station works fine, buddy.  Contact wayne if you would like details on the show schedule, guest lists, or sponsorship opportunities.  I am the webmaster and that is the extent of details I can comment on.

Glad to hear you figured out the technical problems and look forward to your first broadcast.
