I usually look at the screen when I am playing, I could care less about the case. Supposed to have some good games.

Lmao. Glad I'm not the only physcho :D

It well won't be a able to touch a decent pc in terms of power.

Me too. :-\
I've heard something about the PS3 being an HD-DVD player as well. Could explain the price being that an HD-DVD player itself is in the neighborhood of $500-$1000.
Boy, how I yearn for one. :'(

I once broke a controller with a chair.
Yeah, for 600 bucks I won't bother getting one since I already have a 360. The games on both consoles will be practically indistinguishable. If a 3rd party company is using, say, the unreal 3 engine to build the graphics and they're developing a game cross-platform (say 360, PS3, and PC) then they don't spend much time trying to optimize for each system. Perfect example of that would be EA sports games on the ps2 and xbox. Though the xbox was roughly 40% more powerful, the visual presentation of the games were nearly identical.
As far as hd-dvd goes, I don't much care. Seeing tie-fighters and x-wings expolde in 720p really isn't much different than seeing them explode in 480p. It's all about the games.

I'm all about the movies! ;D

I suspect the release date will coincide with the day after Thanksgiving. I plan on getting as many as I can get my hands on, and ebaying them to parents who JUST MUST have one for their kids.

LOL good idea! Jack the price up a cool 500 bones.

It's not actually HD-DVD that it will support, it's BluRay, which is Sony's proprietary HD format (their previous propietary formats have included such standouts as betamax, minidisc and umd). The main thing it does for video games is not HD playback, (that can be done on DVD-9 for games, which is what xbox 360 does for 720p and 1080i) it's storage capacity. A dual layered Bluray disc can store up to 50 gb, whereas DVD's are about 9 gb. So in theory games will become so large that only PS3 will be able to support them. In reality Microsoft will make sure that compression technology will be good enough to cram everything into a DVD.
HD-DVD is a whole different format, and there will be an add on to the 360 available to play movies in that format, but it will not support games.
I bought a 360 after Sony introduced PS3 and announced the pricepoint at E3. 360 has more exclusives that I want to play (Assassin's Creed is the only PS3 exclusive that I really want, and it will probably come to 360 eventually), and I didn't see any reason to spend $200 more for a movie player that I don't want and a game console that will only look slightly better.

Hell I have heard that the PS3 is going to go for like 600 when it first comes out.....Tht is what I have read on one of the magaxzines here in Baghdad......

You heard right. :-\

600$ is high but i will have to have one. I work in a store where they will sell them so i will try to get as many as possible. If anyone needs one let me know when they come out they will be about 400$ higher of course ;D ;D

The numbers look good, but I could do without the $500 & $600 price tags. :(
"On paper, the PS3 is 2x more powerful than the Xbox 360 and 15x more powerful than the Nintendo Revolution is predicted to be. It has a processing capacity of 2.18 TFLOPS, which is put into context when you realise that some of the fastest computers in existence can only do 36 Terraflops. It is said to be 35x more powerful than the PlayStation 2 is."

I will not argue that the ps3 is going to be more powerful then both systems (xbox 360 and the wii)but at the E3 show the Xbox games (mainly "Gears of war")stole the show.
I think it will come down to what type of games you like to play, shooters like gears of war and Halo 3 will be on the 360 not ps3.But if you prefer sports games and games more suited for younger people the ps3 will be your best bet.
-
With its price tag, I don't see me getting the PS3 anytime soon. :'(
-
It sounds alright but I prefer to stick to the trusted PC for gaming - you can upgrade and modify at will. I hate the way they keep bringing out new consoles making the previous one almost obsolete after a few years. It only seems like yesterday that the Playstation 2 came out and it's going to seem like old hat with PS3. Just my 2 cents...

X-Box 360 ;D
-
The nintendo Wii is gonna take over i think

A faster processor doesn't mean better game design though.
And what the hell is a terraflop?
